Akumal Monkey Sanctuary & Rescued Animals is a space created in order to house various species of wildlife or fauna in the process of domestication, regardless of their origin, that is, without making a distinction between native or introduced species.
Generally, they are specimens that have been affected mainly by human actions or natural phenomena that negatively influence the environment, preventing in most cases their reintroduction to their natural environment and consequently, remaining under human care for life.
Currently, more than 200 specimens of 55 different species have been rescued.

Akumal Monkey Sanctuary & Rescued Animals es un espacio creado con la finalidad de albergar diversas especies de fauna silvestre o fauna en proceso de domesticación, sin importar su origen, es decir, sin hacer distinción en especies nativas o introducidas.
Generalmente, son ejemplares que han sido afectados principalmente por acciones humanas o fenómenos naturales que influyen de manera negativa en el medio ambiente, impidiendo en la mayoría de los casos la reintroducción a su medio natural y por consecuencia, quedando de por vida bajo cuidado humano.
Actualmente, se han rescatado más de 200 ejemplares de 55 diferentes especies.
