  2. Naming the places across the world gives global perspective to these types of disasters. All too often, poor urban planning puts human infrastructure in the path of known hazards such as flash floods, landslides, or tsunamis. As a person who works in construction, I gasp when I see roofs, small and large, blown off buildings. Most are needless had they been anchored properly or with sturdier materials. When wind passes over a low pitched roof, it creates lift much like a plane wing. Yet all the roofs I saw blow off were barely fastened down.
