Shannon found Steve at her vets office. He came from a zoo setting and was living in the dog kennels. Shannon made it her mission to befriend him and get him to a safe home. And that is exactly what happened. When she brought Steve home, it took her 3 hours to get him inside. But as the days passed he became more and more comfortable. He now gets along with his pig sister, all his little ferret brothers and sisters and his cat siblings. He now spends his days swimming, asking for cuddles and delicious food.

  1. Aw! (The wheeking cry sound is one I have only heard from babies, when they are crying for their mommy to find them. He must think you are his mommy, after all. If he feels isolated or wants assurance in the night that he is safe and not lost from his herd. Thank you for being so kind and making room to love him. I am convinced you have made the complete difference, and he can have a happy life now. Even if he is the only bara.)

The water is their favorite thing, so it is a relief he had a pond.

What a loving family. Capybaras are not a cheap pet. The vet specialist care, the diet.. is $$$$. And they are made to be in a family herd. So it is a major commitment.

It is heartwarming to see how well he has adjusted snd how caring this family is.

  2. Cappy Boppy! Bill Peet's books were favorites of mine as a kid and Cappy Boppy the most. In the book, the author couldn't handle a capybara long term so gave it to a zoo. Sounds like in this case, the opposite happened!

  3. 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷 What is a " Cabypara"??? In BRAZIL we DON'T have or know such animal. We know and we have, like the WORLD also have, CAPIVARAS. In the same way, we NEVER had " Carnival"; we have CARNAVAL. CAPIVARAS are not suppose to be alone. They live in groups . We hope learning is possible for people🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
