Wild Dogs/Hyena VS Honey Badger

Usually, when one sees so many wild dogs bunched up together the way they are in this video, they are ripping through some type of prey. In this case, however, the victim is a honey badger they’ve cornered near a tree, but none of the dogs are attacking it. I’m always stunned to see how predators turn into “creampuffs” when they must deal with a honey badger. It’s not like the wild dogs cant kill the honey badger because they can, but no dog wants to be first. Two honey badgers take on two hyenas during this nighttime conflict, which is a little more on the fair side. It looks like all these animals are tired, and not much is happening between the perpetrators except for a lot of growling and taunting. Honey badgers are not to be trifled with! In this video, two honey badgers and four wild dogs engage in a game of cat and mouse.

I’m unsure of how honey badgers will react to a pack of wild dogs because everyone knows they’re insane. The badgers are serious, even though the dogs are having fun. As the honey badgers charge, the dogs run away. The dogs are aware that the badgers can bite hard, yet while two bother the badgers, two of them are rolling in the grass. The dogs exchange bewildered looks as the badgers eventually leave. It’s confusing how wild dogs can quickly dismember a large antelope but struggle to handle a honey badger that weighs 30 pounds. These hyenas would attack any other animal, including lions, yet look at how cautiously they approach this honey badger. They treat it as if it were the new kid on the block, and they want to bully it, but the badger isn’t your average kid. It’s a touch crazy, on the verge of becoming nuts! The hyenas pursue it, not fully convinced it is a good idea. I have never seen hyenas so hesitant during a potential hunt.

Lions VS Porcupine

These lions come across a porcupine and quickly discover how messy it is to mess with one. They have a good idea of what will happen, so they don’t press too hard, but the temptation is too strong at times, and they still try to snatch it, ending up with quills stuck in their paws and mouths. When they realize this is going nowhere, the felines decide to lie down and relax next to the porcupine. In the middle of the night, this porcupine encounters two lions. As they inspect the porcupine for a weak spot, the lions are curious but not overly aggressive. More of the pride approach, and you can see the porcupine is slightly injured, so I assume one of the lions managed to hit a soft spot.

The lions congregate around the porcupine, attempting to strike it, but they always end up with quills stuck in their paws. They become irritated and leave, but the porcupine may have difficulty recovering from the injury. Another pride of lions with a few cubs is pursuing a porcupine, but not many are trying to kill it because they know what’s in store for them. Even if they kill the porcupine, for all the trouble it entails, it’s such a small prize and not worth the risk. I think the felines agree with me. This is a small porcupine, and these lions don’t seem to care. They clearly understand the consequences of killing it, which makes them act like they already know how much trouble they’ll get into, so they don’t really bother with it.
