Muscle Shoals

Spread The Viralist

Located alongside the Tennessee River, Muscle Shoals, Alabama has helped create some of the most important and resonant songs of all time. Overcoming crushing poverty and staggering tragedies, Rick Hall brought black and white together to create music for the generations. He is responsible for creating the “Muscle Shoals sound” and The Swampers, the house band at FAME Studios that eventually left to start its own successful studio known as Muscle Shoals Sound. Gregg Allman and others bear witness to Muscle Shoals’ magnetism, mystery and why it remains influential today.

  1. This is history! Musical history that relates to anyone ..Legends that need to be remebered for all time.. Ive waited to see this and it did not disappoint..what kind of idiot thumbs this down? …Muscle Shoals has got the swampers..theyve been known to pick a song or two! You damn right Ronnie!

  2. Sorry, but Alicia Keys does absolutely nothing for me. She is not what I consider a real star. Why they had to include her on this, I don’t know but it really ruined it for me.

  3. Was Rick Hall a musician?
Did he ever have any compunction telling others what to do when he could not do it himself?
Seems to me an amazing level of self-confidence early on until he proved to others and himself his intuition was correct.

  4. Something good came from quarantined during the covid-19 crisis…I found this doc! Luv it, luv it, luv it and thank you for sharing. ❤️?

  5. First time I heard the words "Muscle Shoals" was the first time I heard Sweet Home Alabama. No Google. No cell phones back then.
Did not have a clue. I'm thankful to see this doc. I've been a singer songwriter guitar player all my life. Life's problems held me back.
I was younger then, and now I'm 63, but I'm gonna make 5 more albums.

  6. Muscle Shoals and Stax (Memphis) have similar stories and these two studios have produced some of the best music in my time.

  7. this place was at the heart of the Cultural Renaissance that happened in music, art, poetry and everything …so grateful to be alive through this time.

  8. My Grandmother lived in Muscle Shoals. My Grandfather helped build the Damm on the Tennessee river. I live in Miami but last time I was in Alabama I went by and saw the recording studio on the Tennessee river. My family told me of all the music that was made in that studio. My Grandma passes at 100 years old last year. RIP God Bless you and Muscle Shoals

  9. This is the REAL America. This is how America really is. This should be shown in every school across our country. Let's teach our children this amazing historical coming together of people regardless of their color.

  10. I thought this documentary was supposed to be about a legendary music studio and not about race relations. Southerners do not need lecturing about race. We certainly don't need Hollywood and New York infusing their morals on us, the height of arrogance. Further, if anyone bothers to look, ships built, sailed and transported slaves were built in the North. Brown University was started from monies earned in the slave trade. Southerners were and are resentful for being forced into situations by a yankee run government.

  11. This Title is perfect, but perhaps the story line is, …" Anything is Possible ". Rick Hall's story is like no other. How many nobodies have taken this path ?
