Oh that is so gnarly, check this out….a smilodon is to a lion as metailirus major is to the clouded leopard 🐆 however both of the latter afore mentioned cats (the extinct saber tooth matailurus major and the clouded leopard) have a dentition similar in almost every way. This means that the proportions of both the upper and lower canines are extremely similar in both cats to one another. So….this begs the question, if we are correct in the placement of matailurus major, then is the clouded leopard a member of the macharadontinae group? If so, do we have a modern day sabertooth cat? It is extremely likely under these conditions.
