Caving, spelunking and potholing are all names used for the recreational activity of exploring extreme cave systems. This adventurous pastime is not only physically challenging and sometimes dangerous for the participant, but it can also be excruciating to watch if you are claustrophobic. Just the thought of being stuck 200 ft down in a cave, trapped in a tight space with no fresh air, can be triggering, with many left wondering what drives people to engage in this potentially life-threatening hobby. I’m incredibly Claustrophobic though, that’s probably why.
As a 18yo they got our hole class in to a 'save' cave but I was obese at that and struggled. I did make it true but thinking back I dont get how it was okay for me to get in there and I just didnt know any better. Now I could just do those 'save' caves but no way man I was fcking relieved when I got out at night.

John Jones at 6ft tall and 200 lbs he had no business in that cave period. I don't know why people even going in these caves there's nothing but dirt and rock
I did lots of caving in my college days’ some great memories. Lots of tight crawl ways. Got stuck once but quieted my mind and managed to relax and get out. It’s the lure of the unknown. Also been in giant rooms and wading in large stream passages. Getting too old now I’m 65!
im a firm believer that fear isnt real, its just a response from our brain/body to let us know something isnt right. danger is very real, but fear is not. But being stuck in a cave or being stuck anywhere is my biggest no no.

It took everything I had to stay calm and focused during a 20 minute MRI. 3 hours upside down with no movement is nutz. I would have had a cardiac arrest within a few minutes of realizing I was stuck.
Nothing here was that scary. A couple of the stories were tragic but no footage was really showed..only like 10 seconds.
The nutty putty cave is one of those instances where stupidity trumps adventurous. I feel for the families but you're asking for death at that point.

Despite the fear people rarely get completely stuck or lost caving…but cave diving is always a single panicked moment between you and the Almighty
David Shaw didn’t die along side the body. He managed to hand the body of Deon Drayer to his support diver but didn’t have enough air to surface due to deco stops. So he succeeded in his task but at the cost of his life. Just FYI.
