Nicoya, Guanacaste Province, Costa Rica – Nicoya is one of the five Blue Zones in the world, where people traditionally live much longer and healthier lives. Today weโ€™re learning from some of the community elders about what they do, and especially what they eat. This was a huge learning experience, and definitely many tips that we can all use!

Fonda Chorotega, Nicoya, Costa Rica – We first spent some time at Fonda Chorotega, a restaurant in Nicoya preserving traditional Costa Rican food in the region. We first cooked some local corn tortillas with cheese, then tried some tamales. Next we had an entire gallo pinto meal with organic free range chicken stew. We also had egg coffee!

Mujeres del Maรญz, Nicoya, Costa Rica – Next we met up with a community from Mujeres del Maรญz who specialize in preserving corn recipes from Nicoya. Corn, in all shapes, sizes, and forms is very important in longevity and local diet.

Fidel – 97 Years Old, Nicoya, Costa Rica – Finally, it was a huge honor to meet up with Fidel, who is 97 years old, and still enjoys life to the fullest!

Again, a huge thank you to @mytanfeet for arranging this entire experience. Check out their amazing website packed with Costa Rica travel tips and information (https://mytanfeet.com/).

  1. I've seen both video of your Costa Rica series, and dude… I am soooo happy you decided to record this video in Nicoya, one of those not-so-well known gastronomy paradises here in my land… Thank you for visiting and hope you have enjoyed your visit…

I cannot believe you are having a Cacique bottle in your hands… hahaha

  2. I love how mark pretends he likes something even tho he hates it, calls a starch juicy ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ wtf . Ive watched you for years but being fake no thanks. All the best

  3. Salute and bless good brother this is a Awesome video such a beautiful culture and people Godbless that sweet old lady so strong and still have her wits and Charisma about her such a warm genuine video

  4. Seeing the guides is almost as interesting as seeing the food. It's very interesting to hear what they have to say about their local food and food habits. Seeing how it's so localized with very different views on food and consumption habits outside of their country. I've noticed this discrepancy in how the rest of the world eats, as viewed by the guides, a lot more noticeable in the recent Central American videos you've done. Thanks for all the work, great videos.

  5. Two things that really stuck out for me regarding Costa Rican cuisine: The cheese and gallo pinto with Lizano sauce. Mmmmm. Oh, and the coffee. Even grocery store coffee was awesome. Brought some home with us along with a bottle of Lizano sauce.
