Intense Rainfall Triggers Massive Flooding in Queens, Brooklyn And Other Parts of City. New York City remains under a flood watch Friday, and low-lying areas are being inundated, as Mother Nature delivers yet another September soaking to the Big Apple.
After enduring four straight days of rain and gloomy skies from the remnants of Tropical Storm Ophelia, the rain again began to fall in New York Thursday night, and only grew heavier overnight.
The flood watch is in effect for the metropolitan area through 6 a.m. Saturday morning. A flash flood warning is also in place across Brooklyn and Queens through 10:15 a.m. Friday morning as a particularly heavy band of rain rolls through the area.
