  1. This Advice Doesn't Apply To Cars With An ECM If Your Brakes Fail Engage The https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parking_brake Don't Waste Time Pumping The Brakes Because On Modern Cars When The Brakes Fail That Means The ECM Ran https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Out_of_memory Brake Failures Are One of Many Common Problems You Encounter In Almost All Modern Cars In Hacking Terms We Refer To It As The Classic https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halt_and_Catch_Fire_(computing) Problem The ECM Runs Out of Memory And As A Result The Whole Car Ceases To Function How About Improving https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_management In Computers Before Putting Computers In The Cars

  2. I had brake failure few times in different cars once at the highway …pulling the hand brake is not a good idea till you are at low speed but at higher speed you will spin the car around….IF YOU MANAGED NOT TO PANIC ..reduce gears gradually , from D to 4 to 3 etc etc…then use the hand brake to fully stop.

  3. Just open the door and put your feet out, sure just a few bruises and wounds, but better than ending up at hospital, Also, NEVER EVER JUMP OUT, you will be a dancing fish.

  4. yeah, dont just yank on the hand break if youre primary breaks dont work. pull it up slowly but firmly untill you have applied it enough. yanking on it could make the car spin out, and possibly roll.

  5. Once my car’s breaks got stuck it won’t go down I tried everything 911 agent said it wasn’t working. My gear won’t go in N wasn’t even moving. What I did was. There is always a whole next to your gear. It will be covered you have to open it and than push the button down with something and put your car in N. I accidentally went to R. Car stooped but my transmission failed. But who cares I was safe.

  6. If your brakes have failed – "then they have failed" it's an emergency situation that requires multiple applications to slow the car down and stall the engine. Activate your hazard lights Straight away to warn other drivers. Select the lowest gear – as quickly and safe as possible. Use as little as the clutch's travel to gear down – while pumping the brakes and using the hand-brake.

  7. Thanks but bad ADVICE, If i pull the handbrake all the way up it may cause SKIDY the rear weals will lock and if you are driving a high speed it may cause a dangerous accident. To avoid that you should put on ur hazard lights, then lower gear and and SLOWLY handbrake, VERY SLOWLY to make ur brake smooth.

  8. No NO! Don't pull the emergency brake sharply. Instead pull it slowly to stop the car gradually. But before doing that first try to down shift the engine to lower gears to slow down the car and only then once that car had slowed down you can pull up the hand brake slowly . And while doing any of that keep pumping the foot brake in the hopes it starts working again.

  9. I have seen on many of these horrific dash cam videos, many times when big semi trucks brakes fail they slam into what ever they have in front of them killing innocents . In my opinion if it’s inevitable and everything you try isn’t working all you have in front of you is 4 lanes full of stopped traffic I think the best thing you can do is look for the biggest car to slam into a big SUV or another trailer or truck. But slamming into a regular tiny sedan will most likely kill them. Just an observation.

  10. Depending on the speed I'm traveling and the distance to stop/level of emergency, I would most certainly not ever recommend pulling your E brake as hard as possible. You WILL spin out immediately if travelling at high speeds. This can be used in low speed situations or emergencies that afford you no other option.

  11. Just my opinion- Be very cautious because locking you rear tires in a panic like this type of situation can (or will) send you spinning out of control. Just my 2-cents.
My car will not downshift unless it in in a slower speed to begin with..
But, If I was not in a panic- I could downshift from Drive to 2nd gear- Then put the gas to the floor (as if I was trying to pass someone) Then my car would downshift & I could immediately let off the gas, and the transmission would stay in 2nd to help slow down..
Then I could do the same from 2nd to 1st.. then of course Neutral.
Then you gotta of course find something to bring you to a complete stop, Even destroying your car against the side of a guard-rail or curb, Is better than hitting something and coming to a dead stop.

  12. Okay I have a 2012 Chevy Cruze and my front brakes don’t stop. So do I just use the handbrake or keep applying pressure on the brake till I slow down? I need answers.

  13. You should not pull the parking brake like that, it will lock up your wheels and in the highway will most likely make you spin out, you can use it slowly pulling it to a point where you feel the car is stopping but not locking up the wheels, also in putting a car in first gear while at a high speed can make your wheels spin out and potentially killing your transmission and engine completely, and modern cars use electric transmissions, so those won't allow you first gear to begin with, your best bet is to put your car in neutral and if not going too fast and the road is open you can smoothly and slightly move your wheel from left to right, that would decrease your speed more efficiently

  14. i got a question, since putting the car on neutral disconnects the engine, should i put it on neutral then use the hand brake, or should i put it on a lower gear and then switch to neutral then hand brakes?
