  1. I am very concerned to how the investigators did not immediately notice the construction equipment on the next and parallel runway 5L to the runway 5R? It seemed the equipment was a large, damaged bulldozer sitting on the runway 5L. They had to notice/check that bulldozer after the data recorders were analyzed. It was NOT a tiny item getting into the path of a jetliner taking off on the wrong runway.

  2. They give you a dixie cup to breathe with, a choke floaty for swimming and blankets for landing in the forest. The seatbelts in my old Buick tucked into the bench seat. We knew headbutting the dash while wearing it in a mere bender would kill us. They measure fuel by the ton because it burns 1g/sec in flight. What's the problem?
    Money is fake anyways…

  3. As another aside, if airlines were forced (or ”strongly encouraged”) to spend an additional fixed amount on safety related issues, and based on what I’m seeing on this and other air crash documentaries, I think I would propose engine improvements.

I do know there’s a lot of pilot error also involved. You COULD be like the stereotypical military and continually trying to win the previous war. Maybe here’s a good use for AI – analyzing previous accident/incident reports, finding out WHAT kinds of error errors were on the rise, and training for THOSE

  4. It is interesting how various airlines and various countries handle things differently. (Speaking of the Taiwan crash.) These two pilots were fired. Some countries probably would have charged them with manslaughter. And others, I’m guessing, would have re-evaluated them and perhaps kept them on the payroll if they undertook retraining.

I’m wondering where the decision to fire them PRIMARILY came from: airline management or their insurance carrier. I know at a previous employer, they had to fire a driver. He had just gotten a minor citation or been in a minor accident. Apparently, the carrier told management, ”We can no longer insure this driver while driving with you.”

  5. I blame the flight attendant. Once the flight attendant was going down the slide she could have said something. Firefighters could have gone in and try to get the people out who were in the airplane. They might have had a better chance with him might have been deceased but not saying anything I feel she didn't do her job. I realize it's a difficult time and you don't think of yourself but that's her job.

  6. there are barriers and warnings when road construction is going on for cars. there should be at least that much done at airports. i can't believe this wasn't done. that is where i put the blame. 100%

  7. Biggest face palms , yes there was something on the runway, YOU ! RECKAGE, then blames atc that the controller would’ve told him he’s on the wrong one

  8. The thing with the smoke hoods is in most cases the plane is moving meaning you have a bit of time where you have to wait for it to stop before you can start evacuating. During that time passengers could put on hoods like how they put on life jackets before a water crash. The instructions should be to put it on as fast as you can if you can and if it’s not on by the time the flight attendant tells evacuate then leave it and get out. Time is of the essence which is exactly why anything that can increase the amount of time people can survive is paramount. I definitely agree they should be mandatory just like life jackets.
