A University of South Carolina student was fatally shot after he apparently tried to enter the wrong house. Nick Donofrio returned from a night out and tried to get into the wrong house by accident. Suddenly, shots rang out and Donofrio was found dead on the front porch. The person who shot the student may not face charges. South Carolina is one of 10 states with the “castle doctrine.” Inside Edition’s Jim Moret has more.

students stop being drunk and going to the wrong place
poor guy 🙁
If you try to get into someone's else house at night, you better ready to accept the consequences. People get scared and can use lethal force.
another normal day in USA. And their leaders always lecture other countries for human rights violation
While I understand the law this seems like it was unnecessary. I’m assuming he was trying to use his key to get in and not trying to kick the door down. They need to call police first unless someone is actually entering the home or on the verge of entering
It's pretty simple, pay attention mind your business and don't be stupid
I get it about self defense and all that but this is legit overzealous.
And then you have HOA's harassing you if your home looks different from the rest! 🙄
So maybe enter the correct house next time and be more careful…..
There’s no way of knowing this kid entered by mistake. News is dishonest
Everything about this situation just feels wrong I have lots of arguments to break this law apart
💔💔💔💔💔
I blame judges and prosecutors. Criminals run rampant, in and out of jail. People live in fear, everyone is on edge because nobody trust the system to keep them safe.
Sad but yea I don’t think the homeowner should be charged either.
This will remind me to never go to South Carolina 😳😳😳
That's horrifying 😳😳😳
Drink responsibly. Have a sober friend that can help you home if possible. In todays world you can’t take a chance with anyone randomly entering your home. Just a tragic mistake
I've never accidentally gone to the wrong house. Maybe people should stop drinking and putting poison in their body. Also, I have made the mistake of accidentally walking partially into the Women's bathroom until I seen a Woman coming out of it. This happened when I was in high school. The girl chuckled about it. She realized I made a mistake. However, now that this coo coo stuff has been normalized I'm sure that's not seen as strange in 2023. Back in 2004 it was strange.
It's wacky to let normal people just own guns. A normal person is just a potentially crazy or negligent person.
the title is confusing. change it ti accidentatly not tried.
Maybe it would’ve been preventable if he would’ve decorated the front porch so he would know it was his own place or an apple tracker would’ve been better, so he would know exactly. But sometimes I guess school could also be the number one priority to be prepared than nobody would ever think about laws like this
Do you want to buy some cooki- bang
Delive- bang
Trick or Tri- bang

“May not face charges?”
How about SHOULD not face charges? Castle doctrine is CLEAR in this case.
