Bears Fight For Dominance

In the wild, bears fighting for dominance is a common occurrence, but guess what? The bears in our first video live in a zoo, and it doesn’t stop them from fighting to see who gets the date with the charming and beautiful lady. It’s mating season for the bears of the swamp, and tension is running high. This is the swamp king’s turf. He’s looking for a mate, but now, there’s an intruder with the same agenda. A she wolf is also on the scene and she’s back to get more food for the yearlings. Her timing must be perfect. A bear fight could count in her favor, as the swamp king challenges the intruder. But with one swipe of the intruder’s massive paw, the king is dethroned, and the intruder is the new ruler. The swamp king is deposed, while the wolf takes her chances when the bears are too distracted and tired to chase the wolf. When two bears fight, it can be dangerous and brutal. You can see how ferocious these bears are in this video, as well as how they bite and scratch each other during a fight.

Their claws and teeth can be fatal when they aren’t wrestling. One of the males came down and began to feed as well but didn’t seem unduly concerned about the sow/cub on the other side of the whale carcass. Finally, a second male came down, with that classic side-stepping strutting gait, and headed straight for the female. Watch the move the second male makes with his right front paw, trying to “sweep the leg”, right before they separate. After they separate, see how slowly and stiffly the two move around each other, being super cautious. When one male moves his hind leg just a little abruptly, the other male swings his head back around defensively. Slow, cautious, and steady. Any sudden or jerky movement and they get toey. Two giant male grizzlies, or coastal brown bears, battle for dominance during mating season on the Alaska Peninsula. Fights like this can result in serious or fatal injuries, as the drive to mate is very strong. Females, or sow grizzlies, will choose to copulate with the most dominant males, so the winner’s genes prevail- classic evolution at work.

Tigers Fight For Dominance

A big male tiger from Chandrapur India spotted a young submissive male tiger in his territory and decided to give the young male a good smacking, and eventually left him alone to lick his wounds. Two tigers meet in the forest, but one tiger is a female. After the scuffle, the tigress must abandon and concede victory to the male. She’s even lucky to be alive, as she walks away with her tail between her legs. These two tigers engage, biting and scratching each other for a few seconds, after which they calm down, only to go at it again for a few more seconds. I guess they pull fits in sequences and need to pause between them. At one point, a third tiger joins in the fun. Tigers compete for territory and ferociously defend that territory from other tigers. They may expand their territory to include places with a healthy prey base. These two tigers stare at one another until they clash and go at it furiously. Now, this is a battle worth filming!
