I totally agree with you. The situation was self defense, the statute of the self defense law expressly includes the defense of another that is threatened with or being subjected to bodily harm, which this woman was presented with both. This young man did what any young man would do in the confines of his situation to defend his mother from continuing bodily harm. And in the mother's testament of character she has and proof of her being a protective good mother, in the midst of being threaten and facing harm she told her son to go back to car trying to keep him out of harms way. Not only that but, during the entire argument that transpired between his mother and this irate, threatening man the child stood there without saying a word which shows a deep level of understanding morals and manners not to curse at or get in between grown adults speaking to each other, which in turn reflects the level of home training and direction he's being raised with. He only took action when the man actually assaulted his mother protecting her because he could no longer stay there and watch her being in danger. I do feel sorry for the young man because of this man's actions towards his mother he now has to live with the knowledge he was instrumental in taking someone's life and that's a burden no one should have to have, but he should take heart in knowing he did it to protect and save his mother. He is a hero in my eyes.

Boys and young men are taught at a young age to protect their mother's. These men need to keep their hands to themselves.
