I'm glad I saw this video. I'm sewing the last panel to my bed sheet wingsuit, and was going to jump off a cliff tomorrow. Maybe I'll wait.
When I was in kindergarten I made a parachute backpack with some strings and some shopping bags. I was so excited to get to school that morning. I ran off the bus and made a b line straight to the 16 foot metal slide. Shimmied up to the top and lept off the slide on steps side. Chute deployed beautifully. But I still hit the ground like a sack of potatoes. Air knocked outta me I knew right then parachutes were not for me. 🎉

The French guy, is just an idiot. That suit wouldn’t ever work no matter what the circumstances were, I mean what a total idiot. He couldn’t have tested it, no way was that ever going to work. I’m just blown away, what an absolute moron. Why didn’t anyone stop him!? Anyone can see that suit would never work! I can’t believe he was allowed to jump! This is just stupid on so many levels! Where was this poor insane man’s family!? No one tried to talk some sense to him!?

Wing suits aren’t the issue, the issue is people doing BASE jumps and BASE jumps are the most deadly of any jumps. If you add wing suit to BASE jumps and I’ll experienced people this just magnifies the death threat. Wing suits aren’t the issue in skydiving, the issue is people who have high adrenaline and can never be satisfied and press things to the limit every time. People trying to get within feet and inches of rock going 200 mph, they know the chances and risk it.

Just for the record, Dwayne Weston’s fatal jump was NOT a BASE jump, it was from an aircraft in flight, the FAA prosecuted the pilot as it is illegal to make a predetermined jump with non technical standard order, TSO, I.e. base gear

"Dwayne was the best base jumper in the world." I presume the emphasis is upon the word, 'Was.' To do something which on the face of it, seems insane is …..insane.
It is not a question of "Is it too risky to master." It is an answer of, "No one has designed and constructed a wingsuit which, in any way at all, matches a bird's ability to soar, ….let alone fly."….and you would have to be slightly learning impaired to believe that you, personally, can do anything other than eventually, if you persist, become a negative statistic. Humans do not have the muscle structure to support wings sufficiently large to bear the weight of a human attempting to perform the same endeavors of those which a bird is capable. If a human could do that, they would be built like……yes you guessed it…..a bird. (See:the bird's weight to wing lift ratio)
