To survive in the wild where rules and laws are non-existent can be really challenging. All animals, even apex predators, need to watch their backs else they become prey to another. Every day, these animals are faced with the incredible challenge of surviving.
To what lengths will an animal go to preserve its life? Can the weakest animals survive attacks from the deadliest predators? We have compiled a list of 15 scenarios that reveal horrifying moments of animals fighting for their lives. Without further ado, let’s get into the video.

Number 15: Buffalo
African cape buffalos are massive beasts that can weigh up to 2,000 pounds. With a size like that, only the baddest predators can even attempt to take down this creature.
It’s frightening that a single lion is up to the task. Here, a lone lion takes on a huge buffalo while the other herd members stampede away. Unfortunately for the target, the lion is not ready to let go of this sumptuous dinner as it clamps onto the buffalo’s neck.
Buffalos have tough, robust, and durable skin. Their epidermal layer is up to three times thicker than that of cow skin. And they need to be tough because there are predators always watching, ready to feast on their flesh.
A bunch of thirsty buffalos gathers at a small pond. A large crocodile lurks nearby, and it gradually moves toward the unsuspecting animals. Before long, the crocodile snatches one buffalo by the mouth and holds on to it tightly, but the mammal will not give up without a fight.
A buffalo herd’s first instinct when predators attack is to turn tail and run. This is a defensive strategy that weeds out the weaker members of the herd that gets killed by the attacker. But sometimes, these mammals face their assailants head-on.
A lone tiger chases down a herd of buffalos and successfully grabs a big one. But two other buffalos refuse to leave their friend with the deadly predator, and they begin to charge at the big cat. The tiger is forced to leave the downed target, and it finally retreats.

Number 14: Zebra
Crocs are highly successful animals in part due to their hunting strategies. They stay in rivers and watering holes and wait for prey to come to them, conserving their energy until they are ready to attack.
The zebra in this video is caught between at least three crocodiles who are hell-bent on eating it. However, the zebra is not one to give up easily as it kicks, bites, and wriggles out of the croc-infested water. Once free, it makes its way to dry land.
Zebras are significantly different from horses in terms of disposition. They are far more dangerous and violent. Zebras have been reported to kick one another to death, bite anyone who gets too close, and even kill lions.
A zebra is punished with a slow death at the jaws of an inexperienced lion cup. As the zebra fights back, the cub’s mother starts digging vehemently into its flesh. Watch as the zebra struggles to escape and writhes in pain at being eaten alive. That is nature right there.
Contrary to popular belief, hyenas are quite efficient hunters that can take down beasts as large as zebras and even buffalos.
A bunch of hyenas chase a wounded zebra after already attacking its achilles. As the zebra tries to escape, the hyenas surround it, ensuring it doesn’t move an inch. Without wasting time, they proceed to bite the helpless zebra.

Number 13: Deer
Drinking water from a crocodile-infested river is a matter of life and death. And while all animals go to the same water source to drink, some do not come back.
A deer drinking water on a hot day finds itself in an unfortunate situation with a hungry crocodile. The crocodile grabs it by the mouth and viciously drags it into the water. Not ready to admit defeat, the deer tries to escape from certain death, but it is soon dragged to the depths.
Komodo dragons are the stuff of nightmares. They are the world’s largest lizard. They have razor-sharp claws, and they are venomous. This predator is properly equipped to be the apex predator of its domain.
A wounded deer is surrounded by two huge Komodo dragons.
