Those who live in warm coastal towns or bustling cities risk daily life when an unknown threat could be near. Reaching more than 1,000 kilometers with deadly winds, hurricanes or tropical cyclones are both technical and humanitarian problems, causing huge destruction and habitat loss. Tsunami’s monster waves can take out coastal populations and are completely unstoppable and catastrophic, and floods can completely bury cities, causing high impact of damages. With the frequency of these disasters happening more often, what can we learn from the past and can we do anything to help prevent them in the future?

The devastation that caused was mind boggling. Ppl was there enjoying sun and relaxing during Christmas and their whole world got turned upside down, but the poor locals lost everything, so sad.

Blaming 'western countries' for these messes kind of misses the fact that 'western countries' have decreased, and continue to decrease, their emissions of CO2 gases for the last twenty years. In 2021, the USA decommissioned dozens of coal fired plants and replaced them with less polluting natural gas fired plants. But, for every coal fired plant the USA shuts down, China builds three. India is not far behind. And the USA does not help in this. As the coal fired plants shut down, energy prices increase. 'Green' solutions are expensive. This makes energy in the USA very expensive compared to inexpensive energy in China. So manufacturing centers are shut down in the USA, and reopened where energy is less expensive…. China. And the Biden admin has promised to make energy even more expensive to force people to use less. And that means even more manufacturing moved to China, and that means even more coal fired power plants built there. While most other nations try to make goals set by the Paris agreement, China's only state goal was to TRY to stop increasing CO2 3emissions by 2030. And, so energy is becoming more expensive in the 'west' even as they use less and pollute less. China only increases their emissions. And they laugh at us. All the way to the bank, they laugh at us.
