Storm Gérard: 90,000 houses in France without power, trips interrupted
Wind gusts of 158 km/h have been reported in Brittany and three departments are still on an orange alert.

three French departments remain under an orange weather alert as strong winds and the threat of flooding, snow and ice have gripped much of the country.
The storms are linked to the Gerard low pressure system, which is forecast to pass through the north of the country before weakening in the afternoon.
Flooding is a concern on the Chem and Liana rivers in the Pas de Calais, and heavy snowfall has begun over the Massif Central.

This morning, about 26 departments were declared orange and another 66 yellow, which covered almost the entire country, with the exception of Gard, Vaucluse, Bouches-du-Rhône and Var.
it was downgraded to three departments in orange: Pas de Calais due to flooding and Cantal and Lozère due to snow and ice. Some 84 departments remained on yellow alert.
Météo France described this morning’s weather as “very worrying” as the storm moved from west to east accompanied by strong winds.

Due to weather conditions, the electricity distribution service Enedis said that about 90,000 homes in France were left without electricity this morning, especially in the west.
Fallen trees are reported to be blocking roads in Morbihan, Brittany, and SNCF has reported disruptions due to falling trees on the way, especially in Pays de la Loire, Ile de France and Normandy.
