Tornado Outbreak Hits Northern Texas – Dec. 13, 2022

Spread The Viralist

Severe weather ripped through North Texas Tuesday morning, damaging businesses and homes and downing power lines, but most residents seemed to be counting their blessings in the immediate aftermath.

At least five tornadoes formed in the region, the National Weather Service confirmed in a preliminary report, adding that the total could rise to as many as 12 as assessments continue. Many of the storm surveys will be completed Wednesday.

The tornadoes confirmed in the initial report included one with a long track through Wise County, another west of Paris and at least three in Tarrant County. The Wise County twister was an EF2, the NWS said, while those in Tarrant County were an EF1 and two EF0s that lifted and reformed with a discontinuous track.

The storm, which also produced heavy rain and pingpong-ball-size hail, caused at least seven reported injuries but no deaths.

Outdoor sirens wailed as the National Weather Service issued several tornado watches and warnings throughout the morning. Commutes were disrupted, and at one point, travelers at DFW International Airport had to shelter in place.

The NWS said radar detected a tornado between River Oaks and Sansom Park about 8:10 a.m. The system carved a two-mile path through North Richland Hills, where about 20 damaged homes and businesses were reported — but no injuries.

  1. I have pretty bad lilapsophobia, and I will be terrified even if it’s just raining hard, but it doesn’t stop me from watching tornadoes on videos.

  2. It sounds dumb , but this is when we are all Americans. Who cares what collegiate football team you love. We don't really like the SEC. But as Americans and human beings we come together like neighbors even if we are 1000 miles away. We love you the games are just a way for us to show our particular pride. In my state tornados are rare. And that day reminded me why Americans are strong. It isn't a state or a team. Its knowing that you have your family looked over even hundreds of miles away. That is how we pick up what is left and start the process of healing.

  3. Yep. This shit woke me up in Denton. It was still dark. I literally woke up to my cell phone going apeshit making noises I’d never heard & never even knew it could make! Then I realized I had to get my cat & dog under the stairs in our safe room/1/2 bath. It has all our emergency stuff, rain boots, jackets, wind-up radio, batteries, flashlights/lanterns, leash, cat carrier, phone chargers, water bottles, all kinds of stuff, packed in all the cabinets so when it’s “go time” I just have to make it there in time (I was born here … what can I say, lol). Every fkn time we’d hear “take cover now, take this seriously” & the sirens would go off, then after it’d pass & we’d take a breath & lay back down … & BAM ANOTHER warning & running to the bathroom- OVER & OVER & OVER & OVER & OVER. I wish I was exaggerating. I had my cousin in Ohio on the phone the whole time recording all the various different sirens & TV announcements etc. Like I said, I’ve been up close & personal around tornados my whole life- but 14 of them in a matter of a few hours …. it’s not every day you experience an actual tornado “outbreak” – even in ‘tornado alley’!

    Nope. 👎🙅‍♀️❌⛔️🌪️

1 star (only bc I survived with no damage)
    – do not recommend.

  4. The one in grapevine hit just a mile away from my job off southlake blvd and I just had my tires changed at that same discount tire on Monday. I always thought the worst storms skip around the southlake/grapevine area but low and behold. It looked like it started at the end of the walmart parking lot and and trekked across the sams club and discount tire but across 114 I didn't see any obvious damage

  5. I lived in St Louis MO, from 07 to 2012 I'm born an raised in Southern California an the one in 2011 almost hit our house an then Joplin happen .. I literally was the only one who panicked an always went for cover in the basement yet everyone act like they didn't even hear the sirens go off 😩🤣

  6. Shit and I remember coming home for Christmas last year with this weather last year and my husband thought I was being dramatic when I said I think we’re under a tornado. There was one that was trying to touch the ground but it dissipated and there was another rotation above right where I was driving. Going 10mph you could feel the car moving so badly because of the wind picking up out of no where. What was worse is it was one of those times of day where I could only rely on lightning to see he tornado.

  7. There is no reason to live in texas unless you live on the gulf. It's a fly over state in the making. Build all the golf courses you want in the freezing desert you idiots lol. Can I buy puts / shorts on texas desert real estate lol.
