  1. I disagree with Quentin about 80s movies. I think some of the greatest movies ever came from the 80s. But I kind of agree with the Marvel thing. Those blockbuster superhero movies are usually fun to watch but they don't stick with me like an Indiana Jones or a John Hughes flick.

  2. Quentin Tarantino is jealous that’s all deep down he’s a basic man just like all of us sorry Mr Tarantino but times are changing I’m also sorry Michel and Mr Q feel that way about hero movies I would’ve loved to watch a Quentin Tarantino superhero movie you know to show us how it’s done 👍

  3. How about "Bank To The Future"! There were many great movies from the 1980's! I don't think you, or I have even scratched the surface! That being said, I agree with you! Quinton Tarantino is an amazing director/producer/actor! Amazing! That doesn't make him right in his opinion of all of entertainment!

  4. I'm not sure MR knows how funny some of the things he says are. He's just talking out loud. I disagree with a lot, but "real" is funny and he seems real to me.

  5. What about tv shows too? You had The Wonder Years, Saved by the Bell, Cheers, Married with Children, TGIF shows, Doogie Howser (a lot of people forget that one), Miami Vice, Magnum PI, the 80s were locked and loaded

  6. Absolutely agree … The 80"s rocked in sooo many ways that we haven't seen since, movies and music leading the pack along with many many things I can't write here 😇 … By the way Michael you rock buddy and if ever you are in Toronto send me a message I would love to invite you to my restaurant on me just because. Cheers bud

  7. I have a lot of splintered thoughts on this. I do get why he says that, and from that Scorcese "cinema" standpoint there's a case to be made that supports it, but from just a flat out movie perspective, meaning fans and moviegoers having fun at the movies (remember fun?), it's so wrong I can't even stand it. And the real problem with Tarantino saying it, is that the era of films that he absolutely adores more than anything are b, c, d, all the way to z-movies. Movies that are actually ridiculous. He's not just doing what Scorcese is doing which is "there's Citizen Kane and Lawrence Of Arabia and then everything else", which at least I can get from an elitist standpoint; no, Quintin actually loves shitty movies. Actual shitty movies. And yes, the studios took over and brightened everything up and made it all light and whimsy… but, fuck was it fun. There are great, GREAT movies in the 80s. In fact, I think 80s and 90s were the era that audiences had the best time at the theater. Is it the most artistic or reflect the most craft as other eras? No. Certainly movies were more spectacular in earlier eras if only because audiences had never seen such magnificence on a screen before. But after the clinical depression that was the 70s (and maybe because a certain 1977 film struck us culturally in such a way we've never experienced before), studios focused on how to create an experience at the theater that lifted us up, brightened our day, made us want to go back and experience it again. And I'll stand by my 80s flicks until the end of time as a legit era of great movies. I'd list some, but it'd go on forever. Sorry, Quintin, you're "alone on a boat on an island" on this one. (shout to Matthew Berry on that phrase)

  8. I might be biased because I was born in '86, but I personally think the era between about 1975 to 1999 is a golden era of film. Everything from Jaws in 75 and Star Wars from 77 to 83, to the later Monty Python films from 75 to 83, to all the Cheech and Chong films from 78 to 85, to Back to the Future from 85 to 90, to all the 80s films that Mike mentioned and more(did he mention the likes of 48 Hours?). Lethal Weapon from 87 to 98. The OG Die Hard trilogy from 88 to 95. Do the Right Thing in 89. Some crazy good films in the early-mid 90s, like Pulp Fiction, Boys N The Hood, True Romance, Menace II Society, White Men Can't Jump, Forrest Gump, Friday, Saving Private Ryan, Shawshank Redemption, Goodfellas, Casino, Hook, Clerks and Blood In, Blood Out. The late 90s also had some decent films like Good Will Hunting, Patch Adams, The Big Lebowski until it all culminated in The Matrix in 99 and cinema just hasn't been quite as good since. I blame The Fast and the Furious, Marvel and DC. LOL

I particularly like the period between 85-95, the coloration(?) and lower definition in the picture was perfectly cinematic. Films now seem almost too high definition. Not to mention the plots of those films in that era were amazing too. It might also just be because of nostalgia based on my age that I perceive that whole period to be film perfection.

  9. Speaking of which folks check out " Can't Hardly Wait " made in the 90's using 80's model and music because the music then was trash for teenagers ….. Great job on it

  10. 80's movies are copied more now than ever …… They are trying to make series out of them on streaming services now. If they were bad then they would never bother even trying to recreate them in any way …….

  11. The heroes of those Comic Books and Films were the Stars and the presentation in the film has an Actor carry over their individualisms to the Silver Screen, otherwise, the theme of the film didn't necessarily need a "great actor"…

  12. Michael, the spectrum of films is for the decade it is for. The 80ties, had a different meaning in a very different (yet great and free ) time . The music was awesome, the Great Allen you mention, you are right, so many many many many fantastic movies.

  13. I must agree 👍 with you on this it will be amazing to have him on your show and I think 🤔 that it will 💯 so awesome to have him say too you that the 80 were so bad and you saying you must be crazy my man period 😜 by the way I try too find all the movies 🎥 and shows you are in because you make everything look so real you such a great actor my God man make some more movies 🎥 please 🙏…..🤗💯🤗

  14. True Romance would not have been the same without you man. Every cast member was so smartly cast, it is almost unreal, from Slater, to Walken, to Gandolfini, to Pitt and you man, you had a big part in one of my absolute favorite movies, all those people in one flick, the rasta Oldman, Hopper, priceless.
