American Couple Reacts: England’s Battersea Dogs & Cats Home! Animal Rescue is SO Crucial! For Jazz…
One year ago today on December 11th, 2021, we had to do the impossible, say goodbye to our furry, perfect daughter, Jazz of 14 years. It has been absolutely devastating for us and especially having to do the same with our furry, perfect son, Tyson just 5 months ago at 15 years. We are Animal advocates and rescuers first and foremost. We had to do something to honor Jazz on this day and taking a look and learning about one of the oldest animal shelters, Battersea, seemed absolutely fitting. Our goal with this episode is to open eyes to those who don’t understand how dire it is to spay/neuter your pets. To adopt from a shelter/rescue instead of purchasing animals from breeders. It’s an international problem and it’s up to each of US to fix it. Jazz and Tyson left a massive legacy and we hope that it will touch you as well as it has so many. Battersea is a wonderful organization and we fully support everything they do as we learned in the video. It’s the Christmas season and a time of giving, so if you are able please donate anything to Battersea or any other Shelter/Rescue near you. Thank you for watching and we hope this episode will make some impact.

  1. Ladies, knowing that you are both animal lovers, I would recommend you search out a wonderful man called Simon Cowell, who founded a Wildlife Aid foundation decades ago in Surrey, England, and has worked tirelessly to help sick and injured animals. He is still active after many decades of service despite his current battle against cancer.
A remarkable man who should have been honoured for his work.
    Best Wishes from Wales. 👍

  2. I adopted my special little boy Alfie from a shelter back in 2014. He was cross Yorkshire Terrier/Maltese. That's Alfie as my profile picture. I was helping out at the shelter when i first met Alfie he was so frightened and would growl at staff. I took him for a walk and when i returned him to his kennel i told him i would be back for him. I adopted him that day and brought him home. Although at first he could be snappy, with lots of love and cuddles he turned out to be the most loving little dog i could have wished for. I always told him i loved him and that he was my special little boy. I lost Alfie in 2018 due to his illness. Although i only had him with me for four years i can honestly say they were the best four years of my life. I miss him so much.

  3. Hi Ladies, Same day, same year I lost my Cavalier, Fudge. On Sunday the 4th December 22, went and picked up my two new pups, German Shorthaired Pointers, I already have two Poppie and Fizz. One of them named Holly but couldn't decide on the second name, after having her in the house for a couple of days she became JAZZ! Pushy little buggar she is!!

  4. What a lovely young man so kind and caring. I loved watching Paul O’Grady on “for the love of dogs” I just cried watching every episode I love Paul O Grady ❤️

  5. We got our dog Mavis from Pawprints to Freedom, they rescue dogs from horrendous situations in Romania and bring them to the UK. She may have some scars and is missing half an ear, but she’s a princess now.

Can I recommend you ladies look into the RNLI, a fantastic non-profit in the UK, which is an official emergency service, they are right up your street. The RNLI themselves post some great videos on YT.

  6. I grew up in London and always got my dogs from Battersea dogs home. My wife and I donate to them every month because it is the most awsome place and the people are just amazing.100% respect to all of you who put your time and energy into making it so. Lots of love and kisses to you all and that also means the dogs and cats.

  7. I have a little Jack Russel called Molly, we had already rescued a dog from our local centre and would go back from time to time just to interact with the dogs, anyway this one time we went and i saw this little dog looking so scared and sad and sat in the corner of the kennel she was in, i immediately decided that she was coming home with us, as we were well known to the staff there we brought our other dog into the pound to see if the 2 would get along, this little dog was scared to leave the staff member and took some coaxing to help stop her anxiety (she had been used/abused as a plaything by some family who threw her on the street) anyway our dog was fine so it was decided we could give this frightened dog a home. That was 17 years ago, this fantastic little dog will be 18 on May 6th (rescue day) and i know our time together is now close to ending and i am dreading the day she leaves me but little Molly has been and still is the most incredible animal, she is currently fast asleep beside me as i type this 🙂

  8. Kind hearts Ladies your lost ones had a great time with you two………….I think they improve the people they are allowed to command…bless you both x

  9. They do a brilliant job me and my very long suffering partner have donated to these for yonks, theirs been a lot of BS and hyperbole about this country lately but we’re proud of our British heritage of help to humanitarian and animal rights – charity begins here – thanks for covering this great cause ( another somewhat smaller but very worthwhile cause ) is WILDWOOD ( Kent based near us) that rescues wild I’ll treated animals or every kind and reintroduces them back to the wild – brilliant program that relies on public donations.

  10. Battersea is an amazing place, and as it's quite high profile it gets a lot of attention, it is also in the heart of London which has a population of around 9 million so it's doing ok. The real help is needed in the smaller shelters in the rest of the country that don't get the publicity. Another great place is Dogs 4 Rescue, a kennel free environment for dogs that wouldn't do well in a traditional kennel, the staff work with them until they are ready for a new home, they have a lot of videos on YouTube and Facebook too. I've always rescued, have 2 cats at the moment, but hope to get another dog in the future.

  11. I spent 6 years rescuing animals around Cincinnati, Kentucky and Indiana may be why you look familiar. I did hundreds of pick ups/rescues and re-homes. Also covered as far south as FL and Michigan in the north. I contribute to the Blue Cross here. A dog rescue shelter similar to Battersea.

  12. As others have said, please try to take a look at Paul O'Grady's TV series called 'For the love of Dogs' from Battersea (there are more than 70 x 30 minute episodes). Paul spends time with both dogs and staff and builds a wonderful rapport with them all.

  13. Lovely! My Ringo is a rescue and I married a dog walker because I love dogs and I love people who love dogs. Can I suggest you watch "Paul Grady's For the Love of Dogs" He follows a few dogs through Battersea each episode. It is an amazing insight into their work. Even if it isn't something you'd react to on Youtube, I think you'd both love to watch it just for yourselves. Loads of love to you on a difficult day xx

  14. I'd highly recommend watching Paul O'Grady, For The Love of Dogs. This show is shot at Battersea. The stories about individual dogs and cats and their successful re homing. Brilliant series.
I loved this video. I make monthly donations to Battersea and the Soi Dog Foundation.
Listening to you both talk about your non profit business with dogs was fantastic and inspiring.
Much love from the Isle of Wight UK.

  15. Hey ladies, great reaction. I have emailed Battersea with the link to this reaction. Hopefully you will hear from them. I can't really have a dog but I always have rescue cats. X

  16. So sorry for your loss. I have no children, my late partner bought me a mini dashund 8 years ago. I owe my dog my life, I know he needs me and he means everything to me!

  17. Oh goodness me, I love love love this video , I'm trying to apply mascara before work though which is appearing to be futile! 😢 thank you N&D , again, another informative video. 👏
R.i.p jazz! And r.i.p to my max and phoebe who we rescued from the senior staffy club (my partner and i are like an old people's home for dogs, specifically staff's aged 8+) , we lost pheebs in 2019 and max in Feb of this year. Big love to all of the dog lovers, and biiiiiig love to Mary tealby! What a woman!! Xxx
