Actually Akane Sawatari died due to a suicide clause associated with her contract with gun devi,
Regarding exposing need of Chainsaw man heart
The only survived characters i know are
Kobeni(scraredy cat girl)
Denji and
The old man who trained power and denji
Just some characters that their fate was not confirmed:
1) Angel Devil- Aki’s name was on the Gun Devil list but Angel’s was not. Could still be alive
2) Quanxi and Reze- Both were at the final fight being controlled by Makima. All of the hybrids fates are unconfirmed. Also they are way too much of major characters to kill both of them off-screen.
3) Prinz- We saw her again towards the end, she isn’t dead (unless I am misremembering)
4) Dead characters such as Tendo, Kurose and Akane were seen on Makima’s chain. They could have been revived or it could of just been their bodies. However I don’t know why devils would stay contracted with dead bodies so maybe they were revived just for Makima to use their contracts to fight the gun devil
