Police horses forced to ride into fans | Batons drawn after Newcastle and Chelsea match

Carnage (Slang) ‘Meaning’ – Any chaotic situation

Context – Ordinary fans, Families, women and children have a right to leave the stadium safely, without the fear of being in the middle of a confrontation between hundreds of fans.

On this occassion, they couldn’t.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with fans singing at each other and taunting each other, its part of the atmosphere and modern game. Obviously. This is enjoyed within the confines of the stadium match experience and the location is well controlled.

When this ‘banter’ happens at a flash point area on leaving the ground, in a confined space, this harmless atmosphere, quickly turns hostile… and it did. There was nothing friendly with the exchange and the situation was one stop away from a full on battle.

Several police horses were used to separate fans and in particular, rode into Newcastle fans to disperse them then the Chelsea fans. One was using his baton as he did! Some of these horses were clearly startled and were off balance. A couple were clearly distressed and ‘rearing’. I was there and up close to them. I could see.

Police officers on horses can be seen using batons to control the unfolding confrontation and some officers were wrestling with fans on the ground.

If you watched the video and thought that we just saw fans singing at each other and the title was clickbait, please feel free to watch it again and pay attention to what was a tually happening 👍🏻

In addition, this situation escalated into a full blown fight between around 20 or so fans just off Barrack Rd. I’ve been sent a video of it.

  1. See video description for details, further explanations and context.

This situation escalated in to a full blown fight between fans just off Barrack Rd. I didn’t add this to the video.

  2. I do beleive that the police can make the situation worse..and cause it to flare up….lancs police horses used alot for barging not good for horse or supporter . Rovers till I die .. Respect Newcastle love Alan Shearer..

  3. I wish the Police were a bit more hands-on with climate protestors instead of giving them tea and biscuits, but then again that's how they deal with the white working class, just like they did with the coal miners back in the day

  4. Reading the discription yes familys should be safe at a football ground but as you know no garentees if i were a steward i would not be doing any wrestling or restraining for minimum rate we pay council tax for the police force maybe more police on duty at matches would make things safer . 1 opinion 🤔

  5. Take away the buzz and the feeling of beating a champions league team and you may aswell go and support your local bowling club .thats all that was good to be a live feeling toon army.

  6. Why do people keep saying poor horses, they love getting there own back on the human race, in fact there as bad as junk yard rottweilers, shame they aint like this to the feckless foreign turds who fly over just to anoy them at buckingham, when they recieve sideway reigned horse head clump in the nose, or haunched onto your arse through the pavement, they might realise they aint scared delicate playthings, if horses could become serial killers it would be the riot control ones that become them…

  7. Fun fact : unless the chief constable of xxxxx force has issued a dispersal order and you aren't breaking the law, the police have zero powers at a football match. So when a cop tells you to go here, go there, stand here etc etc. It is perfectly fine to tell the cop to go f@ck themselves 👍

  8. all I see is musical banter : more enjoyable than Eurovision Song Contest – even the horses were tapping their feet / hooves in time …..

  9. What a load of old cobblers. Usual shouting between fans. My daughter and I walked out amongst the Newcastle fans, no trouble at all. It's a shame the Newcastle fans had to nick our songs though.

  10. Met you tonight at an event with Alan shearer and all I have to say is what an arrogant ignorant man you are I always thought you had a lot of time for the people of Newcastle but tonight shows me otherwise you where in the same seats as all others and acted like a VIP you should understand where you came from and the people who made you absolutely shocked.

  11. Why oh why don’t the police keep away fans that are up in the corner for 30 minutes where they are after the game until the home fans can get out. I’ve seen this a number of times this season. Common sense really.

  12. Eddy, appreciate what you do, but worry highlighting trouble just can cause copy cat activity and cause our reputation as a great away day to be tarnished.

  13. Would there be an argument to keep certain Clubs away fans in the stadium for a time period like they did with Sunderland years ago, or would fans just wait around still?

  14. It's passionate fans enjoying some success after years of poor ownership. What club wouldn't be like that. Policed very well tbh amd great control of the horses
