A lot of you have gotten a lot wrong here about the gorillas. Here's a basic fact about them: They are strictly herbivores. That means they don't eat meat, period. No, we did not just see gorillas attacking and eating monkeys. Those were chimps that did that. And they certainly do not cannibalize other gorillas. Like I said: No meat. None.
Those who think that chimps are cannibals, and that we were just shown an example, are also wrong, as we saw no such thing. They are known to murder eachother. But not for food.
What else? Someone started to talk about 3 kinds of apes, and then referred to gorillas, chimps, and baboons. Sorry, but baboons are not apes at all.
The easiest way to distinguish which are apes is that apes, and (among the primates) only apes, do not have tails. Not even a little stub (which some monkeys do have). There is absolutely no tail, just like the apes that we know best – ourselves.
And baboons are also being accused of being cannibals – a whole, long, detailed description of them killing their own babies for food. Where do you people come up with such nonsense? So much foolishness, all in one place. They DO kill and eat baby monkeys for food. Not baby baboons.
You know, it's one thing to just not know shit. You can always still learn. It's another to pretend that you do, and to spread misinformation.
