2. And the irony of the Hoover and Glen Canyon dams is amazing to watch. They are now failures as well but in reverse. Nobody planned for the consequences of what is happening because of those monstrous dams failing to fulfill their intended purpose. The cost is going to far exceed any dam failure this country has already experienced and yet they just keep building those massive cities like nothing is even happening. I live in Eau Claire Wisconsin all the union like market and Johnson construction companies in this area they pretty much rip up the roads that they ripped up last year and a year before that and the year before that every single year for job security. So why do this massive construction companies waste their time. Or is this just politicians way of hey how can we waste text by your money. Why not apply some of these massive contractors companies to actually failing infrastructures and rebuild them rather than how many times can we rip up the same road every 6 months to repair it stop engineering problems into the roads stop wasting time it doesn't make any sense. But I've lived all over state of Wisconsin it's the same everywhere you go we have winter we have construction you can't go anywhere because the snow banks are four or five feet high and you can't go anywhere in the summer time cuz they rip up all the roads never seems to end. A road should last 10 to 15 years not 6 months quit engineering problems into the road so it fails in 6 months. Maybe you'd have a construction course that could actually repair the nation's infrastructure.

28. Since I was a kid my family and I have lived in numerous states but never below a dam or in a flood plain. My father turned down several jobs as I was growing up because we would have been located in a flood plain below a dam. I listened to what he said and his rationale for not living below a dam and have never put my family at risk by doing so. People need to think past the end of their noses and take care of themselves and their families.

30. We get infrequent earthquakes out here, but a study of our local dam showed that it wouldn't survive a moderate earthquake. Ignoring the screaming from people who would be inconvenienced by the process of strengthening our dam, the Powers That Be went on with it. Roughly 2 1/2 months after the work finished, there was an earthquake directly underneath the dam. The dam held. No more screaming about the inconvenience. Mind, the earthquake was relatively minor, but it was a good object lesson to the people who complained, that sometimes its good to be prepared.
