  1. A great part of these dogs are mixed with Australian shepherds… probably the result of some trashy Dr Jekyll trying to pass their blue eyes and special fur patterns in a more "practical” size.

That is the sad reality of the "fashion of the moment” breeds like chihuahua some years ago.

They are convent when it comes to make their owners trendy and cool but are not interesting anymore when vacation time is here or not from pure breeding and their assets off of the wanted results.

  2. What does it say of 'animal lovers' when they adopt pets to help cure their boredom during lockdown then stuff them back in shelters when they find better things to do?
Poor animals were just being used.
Hopefully those who adopt these cute lil critters after this showcase are genuine and sincere about giving them a furever home.
Are follow up checks made on the adopters/adoptees I wonder?

  3. Yes this would be more impactful with seniors/mixes/behavorial etc….and he should have gone more into the details about this atrocious phenomenon of people dumping pets back off at shelters…but this is the first I've ever seen anyone on public television say this. The topic should be on the news EVERY DAY! Thanks for trying Colbert <3

  4. so in Poland we do have that stand up comedian Karol Modzelewski with his weekly news and segment named Psinder (game of words: tinder and psy – dogs in polish) and every week he shows dog from shelter… but not puppies – dogs all ages. And still most of them are adopted ♥ this always break my heart a little, because I work to much to live with a dog, and it lift up my heart that there are people who still trying to help

  5. Please say why the shelters are filling back up. People adopted the dogs during the pandemic then returned them when they went back to work. 🤬
Adopting a pet is for the entire life of the pet.

  6. I don't care about Jason Sudeikis. I'm here for the puppies. It would be
nice if the show would include older dogs instead of puppies in these segments.

  7. If you're adopting a puppy, be ready, it's a LOT OF WORK! And rescues are no piece of cake to train, all the breeds they showed are super active. And technically you don't get to return them when you go back to work. I love my rescue dog but it's not all rainbows and jokes. If you can choose a rescue that will support you with behavior and training so you are well equipped to be a pawparent.

  8. AGAIN! Puppies dont need help, they sell themselves! HAVE YOU SEEEN THOSE FACES!!! How about you go for the seniors next time. THank you

  9. Part of the reason why there are so many puppies is because a lot of new pet owners didn't bother to spay and neuter. Please talk to your pet-owning friends about spaying and neutering to help keep puppies and kittens out of shelters.
And of course, promote adoption of older dogs (and cats), not just puppies (and kittens).
Lastly, if your friends and family buy from breeders while pets languish and die in shelters, unfriend them.

  10. Right now the shelters are inundated with puppies and kittens. (summertime) When they are adopted, then less dogs get euthanized because there is more room. There are times to highlight puppies and older dogs both. Right now shelters probably need space for more dogs. North Shore is a no kill shelter but others are not and those are the ones that are overwhelmed. I am glad to see any adoption segments. Next older dogs segment! Thanks to Colbert and the late show for highlighting adoption!!
