Erika and Sandro live in the Houston neighborhood of Sunnyside – America’s second most dangerous, where stray dog issues abound. There are multitudes of dogs roaming the streets, and we also learned a few disturbing things that go on in this area. They operate South Side Street Dogs rescue.
Our first stop at 8:45am was at the site of a deceased dog. For Sandro it was difficult to tell what had happened merely by looking at the dog, though due to some markings on a nearby sign there was reason to believe that the dog’s death may have been gang related.
Right around the corner we came across a very active medium sized tan dog. It became clear that this dog had an injured back left leg to go with some mange on his face. He was very friendly and happily accepted a treat that he enjoyed before Brittany skillfully got a leash around him for the rescue. A.D.O.R.E. would have him vetted and start looking for a family for him.
By late morning we had seen a multitude of stray dogs, but there were more. 3 larger breed dogs frequent a field right next to where a semi-truck cab parks. For the most part these dogs were in good shape but were happy to take part in the food that Sandro brought for them.
As residents of Sunnyside, Erika and Sandro are ambassadors of education in their community and are working toward solutions.

I think what needs to happen is, that spay and neutering is made a FEDERAL MANDATE , is free in every single state, and if you want to breed, you must apply for a special federal level permit to do so but are frozen across the board for the next 10 years minimum. We also should run at the same time is the laws to change to one federal level law, that those who are convicted of abuse and neglect are sentenced to an automatic 10 year federal prison sentence, with no deals, no leniency,, unless you are over the age of 70 and can prove that you have dementia etc,,. It's time to STOP playing around at a state level with these issues. And if you run these programs at the same time we might just see a drop in issues such as these…. Thanks againn for A GREAT video!

I so wish they were stiffer penalties for people who abuse animals. But keep spreading the word people post videos talk about it save rescue adopt and spay and neuter and hopefully some vets will see this too and maybe be nice enough to offer that people can't afford it we need to save these beautiful souls…
