Charisma’s story is a fairy tale, from start to finish. The universe really did conspire in helping her get home. It’s a very inspirational story, and a lesson for all of us. If you really want something, you will get it, you just have to try. If you really belong somewhere, you will end up there. All it took was for one comment on facebook, and the right people found each other that night, and put to action the crazy plan to get find this dog, secure it, and get it home safe. If you are one of the people who chipped in for Charisma’s travel expenses, thank you!

  1. Pretty dog. I lived in Greece for about 8 years and we had two dogs in that time period. Max the mutt was a hand-me-down from an American family that lived close to us. Apparently he came from an Army base near the home (mansion?)of the King and Queen in Thessaloniki. He was the perfect mutt. Everyday I'd come home from school and he'd greet me with the zoomies. Very affectionate, always slipping his head under my armpit in the evening sitting out on the porch. He'd go with us everywhere- no leash required. A great companion.

  2. This story warms my heart. My family is from Chios, Greece. When I was a just a little kid, I was always so in love with all the stray cats and dogs I’d meet when I’d go to Greece. It’s always been my dream to rescue one and bring it back to the US with me either to foster it until I find it a new forever home or if all works out, keep it with me! I’m hoping to go to Greece next summer because I miss my family of course, but I’m also making it a personal mission of mine to rescue a cat or dog in need. This story has been really inspiring to me!

  3. All the effort that everyone put into saving Charisma, and to the wonderful woman who is taking all the responsibility for caring for this Gift from God., you all are AWESOME! I am always in Awe of how God puts everything together. Charisma is here and is having the life she deserves.

  6. I was so sad the entire time I was in Milo, because I knew there was no way I could afford to bring any of the dogs back and I would have loved to take many of them. They would beg on the streets, get hit by cars and people didn't seem to care! I can never go back their lives were so upsetting! I was not a rich American as a matter of fact I was only there for a wedding of a friend and they paid my passage

  7. I Just come back from Greece…Yes It s very very sad to see those poor dogs anywhere so cats without care and starving! No stérilisation so misérable animals ! From France

  8. Thank you so much for the update!
Because of your original video I donated to that GoFundMe page.
I often wondered how that sweet pup is doing.

  9. I wish that all the homeless dogs could find loving homes to take them in. They suffer so terribly. There should at least be a program in place to have them spayed and neutered so there isn't even more dogs born to have suffer such a terrible fate.

  10. I love fairy tails that come true!! Although you break my heart with your videos….you fulfill my heart with love and hope for the human kind…Thank you:)

  11. Valia….. that is your name!!! Finally I have a name to put to that beautiful voice that hauntingly tells us stories of the Greek strays, homeless dogs and their lives that hopefully find a kind human to take them home. But sometimes the story is not so kind and does not end well yet even tho I may weep like a baby at the end of the story, the message is not lost on me. I understand that yet the story may not be a happy ending for every stray, the message must still get out that we all are needed in helping these animals in anyway possible, in anyway that we can, no matter how small a gift it may seem it still means something for an animal in need. Dear Valia, you are an Angel to me and many of us who love all these sweet creatures…. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping with your life's calling in doing what many could and have not done to make a better life not for just one but for countless many and who knows how many more there will be………?❤️

  12. Beautiful country but so sad that all these poor dogs have to live on the streets i know that there are people who care like the person who made this video but this should not be happening dogs belong in the home not on the streets I know it’s the same for cats poor animals. Its great to see videos like this one but don’t you just wish you could rescue them all ??❤️❤️

  13. What a wonderful woman Meredith is… Charisma is a very lucky girl to have found her loving furever home. The difference in the before and after is what makes me rescue instead of shopping for my furbabies, the joy in seeing them enjoy life, to live, instead of just existing, there is nothing that feels better! God bless everyone involved in Charisma's rescue and care and pitching in financially to get her home… You're all awesome!! Thank you sweet Valia, for sharing this beautiful story and everything you do to help the innocent defenseless furbabies in Greece. Lots of love from Australia xx???
