Overcompensation. It's the killer in both cars and light aircraft. There is a natural tendency to steer in the opposite direction of a spin and hit the brakes but that just makes your car go sideways. Also in a light airplane there is a tendency to pull up on the stick when in a stall but that makes the stall worse. Panic tends to make a driver react in exactly the wrong way to recover from a spin.
