SHIRAZ, IRAN – Shiraz is one of the most beautiful cities in all of Iran, and once you get there you will immediately know why. The architecture, ancient history, the kindness of the people, and the delicious Iranian food, all contribute to making it such a special city. In this ultimate Iranian food tour of Shiraz, we will eat the most iconic foods of Shiraz, from street food to faloodeh, to home cooking!

Breakfast in Shiraz – Ash Sabzi, which is a porridge of lamb, beans, and tarragon, is a staple of Iranian breakfast, and the best of the best is in Shiraz. It’s a special dish, it’s filling, and it’s incredibly tasty. We went to the right place, it was packed and they sell about 1000 kilos of ash sabzi per day. We also tried their haleem – Porridge of lamb and wheat – that was different from any other versions I’ve ever had. Delicious way to begin this food tour.

Nasir-ol-molk Mosque – The Pink Mosque – One of the most magnificent sights in Shiraz is the Nasir-ol-molk Mosque, also known as the Pink Mosque. The decorations, mosaics, and light, will make you stand in awe.

Jamshidian Lemon Juice, Shiraz, Iran – Shirazi Faloodeh – Persian dessert since 400 BC! There’s no way you can go to Shiraz and miss out on Shirazi faloodeh, a dessert that’s popular now around the world, but started in Shiraz. And we tried an original version.

Tomb of Hafez – Shiraz, Iran – Next up on this ultimate tour of Shiraz, Iran, we visited the Tomb of Hafez, a famous poet. The traditional Persian gardens are spectacular.

Parhami Traditional House (https://www.instagram.com/parhami_traditional_house/) – This was a real treat of a meal – a home cooked traditional Shiraz food meal at Parhami Traditional House. The food and hospitality were on the next level. Here are some of the main dishes we tried:
Kalam Polo Shirazi – Persian cabbage rice
Ghormeh Sabzi – Persian herb stew
Ghanbar Polo – Rice, meatballs, nuts and dried fruit
Koofteh Sabzi Shirazi – Herb and vegetable balls

Thank you to everyone who made this day so special, and to everyone we met in Shiraz, Iran!

Thank you to Ghasr Setareh (https://www.instagram.com/ghasr_setareh/) for arranging our trip to Iran.

  1. Thank you all again for your incredible support and concern about us traveling. This video series in Iran was filmed back in December 2019 before the virus outbreak. We are at home in Thailand now, staying indoors. Thoughts and prayers to everyone affected in Iran and around the world, and please take precautions and keep healthy ??

  2. Fun fact— sambousa is a very historical Persian food that was called SAMBOUSAG and was spread to the provinces within the empire and neighboring regions. It fell out of popularity with Iranian people but remained popular with central Asian and Indians.

  3. Who is Mr. Taster married to? I see he wears a wedding ring. Is his wife the blond lady who films with him or someone else. Does he have children? Any one know?

  4. This place 1:23 (Shams Ash) is where I go to get Ash for breakfast straight from the Airport when I go back to Shiraz from England. It's actually my Aunt's local Ash shop, she lives like 10min away from this shop probably for 40 years. It's the most amazing breakfast in the whole world and I could have it just tomorrow if I didn't have to cancel my holiday to Iran because of this current chaotic situation. Thanks so much for this one, Mark! ✌?

  5. I gave this video thumbs down because of the unpleasant noises Mark makes when eats "mmmmm" He just tries too much to impress his hosts.
