Being spirits they are not visible to the human eye. Demons are the unredeemable spirits of the Nephilm who were the children of angels and human women (Genesis 6). Since These hybrid humans are not authorized creations of God their spirits are ineligible for the resurrection so their spirits must wander the earth and find humans to possess.
