Watch Hope Rescue Starving Dog Turning to Stone Too Hurt To Move PUPDATE on The Dog Saviors produced by the World Animal Awareness Society & WA2S Films.
World Animal Awareness Society Executive Director Tom McPhee was operating a canine survey on the east side of downtown Houston when he came across this starving mangy puppy who could hardly move.
Although our canine survey and film teams cannot directly touch any animal we come across in our work, we have animal rescue partners that step up to assist animals we come across in peril we cannot leave with out helping.
To gain an understanding why American Strays Canine Survey team volunteers cannot touch or handle any animal in the field, go here: https://www.wa2s.org/american-strays
Buddy Guy is one such dog. As Tom drove up on him as he tried to cross a busy street, it was apparent he was in a great deal of pain. When Tom sat with him, he didn’t move for nearly twenty minutes, because it was believed he was in too much pain.
The World Animal Awareness Society has partnered with Abandoned Animal Rescue to help rescue dogs we come across on the streets of Houston while we try to understand the big picture of homeless and stray dogs in Texas.
Once Buddy Guy was through intake at Harris County Animal Shelter, he had a few days and a couple of advocates pushing for his rescue through social media.
Shelby and team at Houston & Harris County Animal Volunteers (https://www.facebook.com/houstonandharriscountyanimalvolunteers), and the team of dedicated volunteers at Urgent shelter Pets Houston (https://www.facebook.com/UrgentPetsTx) made sure Buddy Guy made it out alive.
Jenny from Second Chance Pets (https://www.facebook.com/AdoptSecondChancePets) took Buddy Guy from there just a couple days later and went to the Vet, and got a medicated bath, and played with new friends. That was all in the first few days after being rescued from the mean streets near death.
To adopt Buddy Guy contact Jenny at Second Chance Pets, and he’ll be healthy and ready in just a few weeks here: http://www.secondchancepets.org
WA2S Films is grateful to Karen Pitcock, Executive Director of Abandoned Animal Rescue (https://www.aartexas.org/) for her support. 3 Cheers!
