Chinese Yurt Camping in Western China, a RARE look! You won’t believe how beautiful this tiny house yurt was and how delicious the food was. This was near the Pakistan border, a 6-hour drive from Kashgar. We made our way deep to the border of China’s Xinjiang province in search of local cuisine, and found a Kyrgyz style Yurt and meal!

As we made our way deeper into the Silk Road, we tried a lot of different street foods. But we didn’t have a lot of home cooked meals. And one of the things I love doing is getting out of the restaurant or the street and trying some home cooked food. Luckily, we found a guide who brought us to a beautiful yurt tiny house on the karakul lake, right on the silk road Karakoram highway to Pakistan. I haven’t been in a Mongolian Yurt yet, but I imagine it’s quite similar to this Kyrgyz style one.

As we travel around the world and sample street food around the world, we are beginning with this Silk Road series, there is a lot of new destinations we are going to travel to! This summer we will be going on a Vietnam street food journey, then to Indonesia for Indonesian street food, and then to Sri Lanka for Sri Lankan street food!
