  1. Oman is close to Kuwait. And Kuwait is between Oman and Istanbul. Take a transit in Kuwait because you can find the best food in the world (no kidding).
But other than that. In Istanbul try the midye (stuffed mussels -street food) you can find midye almost everywhere but mostly at ortakoy.
Also don't miss the mushroom chocolate at grand bazaar you can find it in spices shops. Try the white one from the outside and put it microwave for 20 seconds then crack it with a spoon and eat it.
The best sea food restaurant is: 100. Yil balik , try the sea baas.
    Kofteçi yusuf: turkish bbq
    Ciğeristan: famous for they lever
Lokma Cafe: great for breakfast try the turkish egg (minemin I think)
‪Nusr-Et Etiler: very expensive, very famous turkish bbq
Hatay Medeniyetler Sofrasi Taksim‬: its the same as nusr-et and some people think its even better.
Hafiz mustafa: for baclava and sweet don't miss the pistachio baclava.

Try this turkish dessert its called: Tavuk göğsü, it made from chicken.

  6. Hello Mark,

How wonderful to travel to so many countries!! I have been to those countries you mentioned above when we were your age. my husband used to work for the Oil and Gas company and we had the oportunity to travel around the word. Those days were so wonderful!! We used to leave in Bangkok, soi Sainamthip (22). I grew up in Vientiane, Laos for many years and went to french school there. My dad was french and worked for the french embassy in Vientiane. I do speak Laotian and Thai (forgot most of them)and of course Vietnamese and French and english I assume you know since I am writing to you in english.. We are going to Thailand in August and will spend 1 month there, will be in Chiangmai first, then Bangkok and last to Phuket. It will be our longest vacation because we have friends in those places. Can't wait to eat lots of Durian. I am originally from Saigon, Vietnam. You should come to Houston, Texas, I will show you all the best Asian restaurants here and there are plenty of them… Good luck on your adventure and hurry back to Thailand I'd love to meet you. You look like a very charming young man and friendly too. OhI forget to introduce myself; I am Madeleine and my husband is Tom.

  7. Awesome! can't wait! I'm not sure if you have ever considered going to Australia, but they are a massive foodie country and the Aussie's are serious about dining. Melbourne has got some great restaurants along with an amazing coffee scene. Also along the coast, and well, generally throughout Australia, the Seafood is exceptional and the barbecue culture is strong. If you ever get a chance, you should head over.
