Ali describes being shot multiple times, suffering catastrophic injuries, becoming trapped inside the apartment with the gunman, continuing to fight while severely wounded, running out of ammunition, and eventually believing he was about to die.
Then the story takes a turn that Ali says changed the rest of his life.
While bleeding out, Ali says he experienced an encounter with Jesus that challenged everything he was feeling toward the man who had just tried to kill him. Instead of revenge, Ali says he was told to bless him.
This conversation goes far beyond that single day.
Ali takes us inside Navy dive school, including the brutal underwater training and what happens to the human mind nearly 200 feet beneath the surface. He recounts responding to a school shooting and helping apprehend the teenage shooter, the psychological aftermath of seeing children killed, his thoughts on law enforcement response during active-shooter incidents, and the disturbing reality of investigating physical and sexual crimes against children.
He also walks us through the aftermath of his own shooting: massive blood loss, emergency surgery, his family being warned that he likely would not survive, years of recovery, 43 surgeries, faith, forgiveness and rebuilding a life after everything changes in seconds.

I do have a question if you ever see this, or other service members see this. As a nurse whenever I found out someone had served, I felt compelled to tell them Thank you for your Service. Because of all that you give, mind, body, and soul. But I saw a video that said all service people hate that. Is it better to just not say anything? I never want to cause someone pain or make them uncomfortable.

I love your experience and how Jesus said bless him that forgiveness is for everyone no matter what they have done every sin is equal and God is no respector of persons. This message is for the host of the show. This is my first time here I have subscribed if you are longing to have a deeper connection with God the most high try meditating while you fast. Ask for forgiveness and ask Jesus to come in your heart. Believe the work on the cross is finished. Fast for three days no food only water or fast for seven days cut out things that you love to do and read scripture and set a time that you will not eat. It could be from the time you wake up to 3 PM 4 PM or 7 PM that’s when you can eat. Hope this helps.
