The discussion follows Gottlieb’s integration of post-WWII biological research into Fort Detrick, his acquisition of the global LSD supply from Sandoz Laboratories, and the unconsented drug trials conducted on prison inmates and civilians across the country. The hosts examine the suspicious death of bioweapons scientist Frank Olson at the Hotel Statler in New York, the safe houses of Operation Midnight Climax run by narcotics agent George Hunter White, and the paper trail unearthed by researcher John Marks after Gottlieb ordered the mass burning of MKUltra files.

Henri Lefebvre the left wing French taxi driver and author is someone who has never come up in America's Untold Stories, this is something that could offer insight into California (Andy Merrifield wrote a biography of Lefebvre I think and was advised by David Harvey an urban geographer who wrote many interpretations of the writings of Marx, including Marx's journals written before 'Capital' that were discovered in a public library in New York). The question I would ask is what were they doing there Mark? Just a suggestion to your team.
Fintan Lane's University of Tulsa paper on Daniel John Hishon (drinking partner of Joyce's father John), described a transformation away from rural land politics in Ireland to urban working class politics in Dublin circa 1900. Don Munro's book in Australia is a good introduction to Henri Lefebvre and the shift away from Che's romantic Cuban Marxism to a more pragmatic urban agitation kind. Which is unfortunate for folks in cities with wild fires and everything else going on. Some argue that has happened to Joyce's Dublin in the present day. Ferriter and Crowe in 'What Were We Like' tried to describe the poverty of Dublin city at the time Joyce left it in 1904 and explain where the politics of the time came from.
