If you’re looking for an authentic and affordable breakfast in West Bengal, don’t miss Swapan Da’s famous roadside paratha stall near Rail Gate No. 26 in Shyamnagar, North 24 Parganas.
Every day, Swapan Da arrives at his stall as early as 4:00 AM. He prepares everything himself—from kneading the dough and making fresh parathas to cooking delicious curries like ghugni, soybean curry, and sometimes potato & green pea ghugni. His freshly made low-oil parathas have become a favorite among local food lovers.
Parathas start selling from around 7:00 AM and usually continue until 11:00–11:30 AM. Each paratha costs only ₹7, and customers can even order double or triple-layer parathas for a bigger meal.
Swapan Da’s inspiring journey makes this place even more special. As a child, he worked in other people’s food stalls. Today, although his stall is a simple roadside setup, he runs it independently through hard work and dedication. He has never married and manages his entire livelihood on his own.
If you enjoy discovering hidden street food gems and inspiring local stories, this is a breakfast spot you should definitely visit.
