Incredible to see Ryan & Callum Crowe walk away from this huge accident at around 160 mph (257 km/h). Wishing both of them a full recovery.
At the same time, thoughts go out to Daniel Ingham, who tragically lost his life during qualifying at the 2026 Isle of Man TT. Rest in peace, Daniel. 🕊️
Sidecar base is acting as a wing.
They need to have a steel tube frame covered with wire mesh to let the air through no buildup underneath.
the study of aerodynamic flow is so well understood these days I believe these incidents shouldn't even be happening in the first place. You can simulate the platform on a computer at different approach angles to the wind, at different speeds, at different weight loads and different centers of gravity, all that, to fully understand how the thing is gonna react and seriously should be thoroughly tested to where a takeoff under a certain condition is discovered and corrected for. These incidents can be avoided if the time was simply put in but often teams will be like just don't do xyz after a certain speed otherwise you'll take off, that's not good enough in my opinion yknow. You could add a front splitter, an air dam, or canards to the front which are basically inverted so they provide downforce instead of lift, and canards could also be a moveable piece which changes its angle of attack relative to the oncoming wind to provide the most downforce under variable conditions.
Or instead of an active system like that, utilize passive aero systems like vents around the front, and tunnels towards the rear, to allow trapped air to escape in a controlled manner which reduces drag and lift capacity. These aero floors they have are pretty much giant wings once they crest a hill and air gets trapped under them, imagine cresting a hill going into a turn, the riders will be airborne at high speed right into a wall
Sono dei pazzi che rischiano la pellaccia.
Can't help thinking the bikes are getting too fast for the circuit. They were pretty quick when the Senior was 500cc (even the singles). When I used to go over 40 years ago the chairs were a lot slower. Still it's a spectacle and the competitors know the risks (or think they do). Last time we were there in 2001 I was there to fly model aircraft at Jurby but we found time to do a circuit on pedal cycles – it's steeper than I thought 🙂
Very good video.
What can explain the huge difference of sound of motorcycles, like at 6:11 ?
@1:36 “Man I’m Fast!!!” 😎
Then gets past like he’s Sitting Still!!!
Reminds me of the CLK AMG crash at 24hr Le Mans (1999)
They will get heat burns from that slide, wow…
crash at 0:52
Imoresionantes los sidercar…..si puedes pon mas vídeos de estas máquinas!…
Need to figure out more down force with the side cars. Too much power for the design.
Jesus H Christ😱
Driving Miss Daisy
Mabey give the side car guys a front win? But to stop them from racing I say no.
THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST CLIPS I'VE SEEN YET👍
That's what happens when officials with no clue change the rules to make it safer for the sidecars. Thank fuck the Crowes walked away, stay the fuck out of the racing you so called officials and leave the design to the guys that build the bikes. Use your rule book to wipe your arse..🤬🇬🇧
Nice!
Damn shame about the Crowes, I don’t see how they could’ve done anything different. RIP Dan.
Why are sidecars even in this race?
I totally disagree with the knee jerk reaction to a Sidecar accident after a fatal motorcycle accident to stop all further Sidecar racing. We as both competitors and spectators have taken on board that Motor racing is dangerous. Of course I am gutted that brilliant local brothers are fighting for their lives. But the reason given to reassess the Sidecars and to somehow make it safer can't do anything else but end this completely unique team sport. A Superbike with an 80kilo rider hitting a line of spectators at 200 mph could like the Mercedes in the 1950s could kill 80 spectators at least. Yet there was no knee jerk reaction? I'm not sure at all where those responsible were coming from.?
