One of the issues about warning, the community was due to rivalry and blatant arrogance. The best meteorologists in the world were in Cuba, and they had attempted to notify the US government of the severity of the oncoming storm. The US government dismissed the warning because they believed their weather and models and techniques were superior. The result was catastrophic: roughly 8,000 dead, and the worst natural disaster in U.S. History.
