Anyone who is looking for bad side of Bhutan search Bhutanese refugee in Nepal 😂
This seemed very Thimpu centered and less adventurous than earlier videos. Furthermore it is disingenuous to acknowledge the previous king's role in introducing GNH without speaking about his role in Bhutan's ethnic cleansing of nepali speaking people, the Lhotsampas, in the 90s. Happiness resulting from the suffering of hundreds of thousands of people's is nothing more than a rebranding strategy.

Highly recommend visiting the locals and asking them to fix you a meal of nakay sikam/shakam datsi, the traditional part of the population are very shy but the more modern ones are easily very accommodating to tourists. Bhutan has plenty of unique home dishes you won't find in restaurants or anywhere else in the world.
Bring home the bacon
It's interesting… The older I get, the less I care about money or material possessions. My main focus is my family – ensuring that my kids are doing well at school, are being good citizens and that we have enough to be satisfied. You can't mandate this, but money doesn't seem to be a single metric to determine happiness, although not having money and being stressed about survival is also not going to provide happiness.

This video put the GNH factor in perspective for me for the first time…. When they say happines it is not to be taken in its literal sense, they mean a sense of holistic satisfaction in living a simple life.
His idea of constantly wanting to do, be and accomplish MORE is a bit ridiculous. Like I have kids' laundry to wash and fold, out of the house ten hours a day to work and gotta get groceries on the weekend (no lazy delivery pass for me). I also need downtime. Setting yourself up for disappointment to always be on the lookout for the next big thing. It's exactly what they mean when they say social media is meant to bring you down about your own perfectly meaningful (yet sometimes mundane life).
fresh off divorce?
Bhutan is absolutely breath taking. Its clean, its serene. And being bordering with India, its an absolute disgrace that India is the exact opposite. Despite India being the so called big brother with a supposedly booming economy and what not. Bhutan is a stellar example of how money has nothing to do with civic sense and general regard for your fellow humans and nature 😢
