House explosion caught on doorbell video; plastic pipes should have been removed decades ago

Don't forget the government approved the use of these plastic pipes😢 and the same thing is going to happen with your plastic water pipes they are going to deteriorate and leak over time and cost tens of thousands of dollars to replace and fix the water damage😮 go back to copper and leadless pipes

8. Got a new gas pipe:

   I pointed out an old steel pipe.

   Technician said: "It is disconnected 20 years ago. No problem."
   Took his wrench and opened the end cap.
   Loud streaming gas in the cellar.
   He jammed his thumb in the pipe and cried for help and his cramping tool.

   2 days later a very big excavator opened the street min. 100ft and the parking lot of my neighbour until they found the connection to the modern platistic main line.

11. Those who believe there's any safe way to deliver explosive gas inside your home should read about the Merrimack Valley gas explosions. Steel pipe helps but it also requires the utility to train and retain good people who will do everything right. Those who know how for-profit business works might spot the problem.

16. so did the gas company replace her house and pay for medical bills, pain and suffering or did they denied responsibility?

17. I suppose the real question is, is ATMOS responsible because they were told the pipes were not in the ground, or is the previous gas company owner responsible for lying to ATMOS? If I owned ATMOS, I would dig it all up and increase the Gas Rates to pay for it, or just stop providing gas in that neighborhood until I knew if the lines were still in use. The other option is to not dig them up, but the just lay ALL new pipes in the ground and remove any you find while doing it ensure NO one is hurt in the future from the Previous Company Owners lies. Let's face it, the gas service was purchased in good faith in its infrastructure being legal and intact AND the state and county approved the sale under those conditions. Best Blessings. Keith

18. Gas has a smell…. If there's that much gas present you'd be stupid NOT TO KNOW. My propane was leaking the other day when my friend walked in he said I SMELL GAS! I had just changed the tank on my ventless wall heater. When I walk over by my door I could definitely smell propane.

22. Can’t help but think of Cy calling these issues out! I’m sure the builders, their inspectors, & co had it written as “should” not have those pipes in the law so they are good!

23. Still want to get rid of regulation? Inspections? This is what the watchdogs are supposed to be watching

24. Combustible gas detectors are cheap. If you use gas appliances, get a couple for your home.

25. I have a gas detector and carbon monoxide detector in my house And a smoke detector
