Someone who's like a grandmother to me (we'll call her Em) once told me she and her sister's car broke down one day, and they were stranded in the middle of a rural and sketchy town and it was getting late. Em and her sister got ahold of a towing company but they said they weren't able to come out for a while, so they didn't really know what to do, until a young man came up to Em while her sister was in the car and he asked her if they were ok and if they needed any help. After she had told him that a tow truck was on the way, he just nodded and sat down on the side of the road and bowed his head. After a few minutes, Em asked him what he was doing, and he said, "It's dangerous to be by yourselves in an unfamiliar place filled with strangers. If I don't stay and keep you guys company, who knows what might happen." He did nothing but sit there and wait with Em. Her sister came out of the car periodically and started talking with her, but Em told me that her sister didn't seem to notice the man. Finally, the tow truck came and Em said goodbye and thank you to the man for waiting with them. He told her not to mention it and may God bless them, and he left. Em told me that later, she had mentioned the man to her sister and said how nice it was that he made sure they were ok. Em's sister proceeded to give Em a confused look amd she said, "Em, there was no one else there…" To which Em replied with, "Yes there was. Didn't you see him when you came out to talk to me?" And her sister said, "Em…you were the only person out there…" Em firmly believes that the man was a guardian angel and I do too.
