Why “Blocking” in a Street Fight Gets You Knocked Out

Why "Blocking" in a Street Fight Gets You Knocked Out
Spread The Viralist

If your first instinct in a sudden street ambush is to put your hands up and block, you are going to wake up on the concrete. The street is not a kickboxing ring. There are no padded gloves, no referees, and no weight classes. When a 220-pound attacker throws a bare-knuckle haymaker, a static guard will collapse under the kinetic force.
In this clinical masterclass, we strip away gym habits and break down the exact physics of extreme violence. You will learn the 3-step R.O.N.I.N. interception protocol to completely dismantle a massive street haymaker before it lands. We do not block. We destroy the attacker’s structure.

  1. Social media BS:
Create clickbait title then create content to try to justify the title.
The next advice is even worse, he says don't weave or manage the distance cause that gets you KO too…
Seems like this guy is just trying to be controversial to farm engagement.

  2. So stupid. Don't block in a street fight? Bro, that's literally the FIRST thing every martial art instructor teaches, and I've been through half a dozen in my life, and every single one had some sort of a defend first while attacking at the same time or similar method. BUT blocking was step 1, or else if you get punched first the chances of you getting out of it in one peace deteriorate exponentially. Nice, but no cigar, homie.

  3. Okay have any of you actually been in a street fight where they got knocked out while blocking? Comment below. I've worked security only been in three street fights, blocking has always helped me mitigate damage. If they throw a hook like almost everyone does in a street fight, I grab my ear and turn away from the punch answer back with a straight. If they're throwing straights keep your chin tucked and catch the blows like a catcher's mitt. Footwork and position matter more to mitigate damage

  4. There are only two options, move or block. When you block, block tight to your head, do not leave any slack. If you want to learn real self defense, I can teach you. Sensei

  5. what the fuck is this guy going on about. hands up is still better than no hands up. id rather take a 200lb guys punch to the head bare knuckle with a guard than no guard.

  6. Sounds very eloquent but this is very dangerous. On the street all it takes is one punch not even full power to end the fight bare knuckle. Trying to attack the attack is very catchy but I wouldn't advise this .

  7. I don't know how many street fights this fool has been in but he obviously doesn't know what he's doing and should stay in the ring. The person you're fighting probably isn't weighing 250 lbs.

  8. This is not correct. You have to watch what your opponent is doing. If you know how to block, and remember that you might need to do it more than once, then it will win you the fight – or at least you will not lose and be able to walk out of it in one piece. Wing chun chain punching won't win you the fight either, for the same reason – you're not watching what your opponent is doing. That doesn't mean send your own haymaker and wait to see which lands first. It simply means, take a step back, or to the the side. If a big dog runs and jumps at you, it will miss if you take a side step.

  9. You say that but I'm undefeated street fighter (not that I'm looking for fights, I'm peaceful and avoid it) yet I catch punches all the time people never expect that. Game changer

  10. Categorically false- any of these “never do this in a street fight” is bullshit, except trying to pull guard- last time I got into a fight? Started with a block, 2 kicks, fight over- that’s it. Lol- if someone takes a shot at you, block it or dodge it if you can. Kicking is the most valuable skill I’ve found to be effective in 25 years of this. Everyone has a good right hand, very few people know how to deal with kicks.

  11. Your movements are so fast I cannot learn. Please do a slow motion version of your attacks. I have only been attacked once in my life by a sucker punch, thankfully I stood my ground but 20 years later I still think about that day and how I could have responded better 😢

  12. As a pro…. I can see into the future..I can predict what the other guy is going to do before he does it…. a short range right hook to the chin always puts them down and out… if he's double my size and taller then my steel knucklebuster does the job I'm too old for that crap..

  13. Everyone is an expert when they are making money out of their suggestions. One street fight situation is not the same as the next, no matter what effort you take to engineer it to your preffered situation. Different sizes, weights, speeds, strategies. Guy throws a feint, you take the bait, move forward with your elbow strike to his chest, he manouvres a punch from his other arm straight into your face, while you are moving forward, game over. Your strategy just became pointless and useless. The strike to your face just nailed you becasue you stepped into it. I'm so sick of seeing people present ultimate stategies that amount to fuck all and don't actually exist in a real world street fight. Plus, more often than not in a street fight, you will have multiple opponents to begin with, because people are smart enough to attack mostly when they have a numbers advantage. If the guy you are fighting is that easy to beat, that you can engineer the fight to use a pefect strategy on him when he throws a punch, then almost every time you could have just nacked away and he wouldn't have even bothered throwing a punch to begin with. Don't go looking for fights and most of the time you won't find yourself in one.
