  1. My Mom and I raised a squirrel a few years back. Unlike this one though, he left and never looked back as soon as we released him. Course the squirrel we raised started out older than this one. I don't remember if his eyes were already open or not.

  2. When I find them, and they're not completely dead, and my dogs don't wanna eat them, I put them up on a local tree as high as I can and wait. It's only happened a few times, but mom squirrel came right back down to get them and bring them back to the nest. Must have been problems in there. There were three dead baby squirrels from a raccoon or fisher cat attack once. Nature is brutal.

  3. this is how you don't rescue wild animals. it wont go look for food because its imprinted on humans, it can never be released into the wild.

  4. when i was in mexico i found a baby like that, we loved on him for a mouth and then i had to go back home. the housekeeper took it home for her son as a pet. what a great time

  5. Old friend of mine has a college roommate whom had a squirrel. Very friendly. Used to leave the dorm room window cracked so he can get in and out. Couple of times, the squirrel brought a lady squirrel back to the dorm. Story was, the female squirrel would realize nearly immediately where she was, and FREAK THE F OUT. Poor little guy could only find the crazy ones.

  6. I had three squirrels last year; I think there will be 5 or 6 more this year. Bob and Carl know that when I sit outside with my coffee in the morning, they can get some treats. Sally is a late sleeper; she does not show up until like 10 AM, but I think she might have young babies already. They are in a box I built for them. We have to be careful with the crows here, but they too are my friends. You guessed it; I love living here.

  7. the wild squirrels in my yard let me pet them. i collect BAGS of wild nuts for them in season when I'm hiking. they also love fresh cut coconuts and avocados. i've learned so much from them by just watching, the main thing i learned was to never give food to their babies. mama squirrel will teach their babies everything needed

  8. Well, at least this was done over in the US and not the UK. Grey squirells over here are considered a pest, so now theyre prime targets for small-game hunters and pest control. They were brought over from America and have been slowly driving the native red squirrel to exctinction. All this means less food for the red squirrels, less territory and a declining natural population, all because of just how many invasive grey squirrels there are.

They look cute but these things ARE a pest and are actively causing the decline (an eventual extinction, if nothing is done) of an already small group of rare, native species. I don't mean to sound like a horrible bastard but over here, at least, these things need to be shot on sight.
