  1. Lure? The dog is, basically, a wolf, and many times bigger than the coyote. The coyote is feeling threatened and trying to make himself look big and scary (and possibly guarding a den). Everything about his behavior says “back off, chump.” If the dog chases the coyote, damn right it’s gonna run back to safety and its friends are gonna jump in to protect it. Solution? Don’t let your dog chase coyotes (or other wildlife).

  2. SEVERAL TIMES WALKING MY DOG I HAVE SHOT THESE COYOTES WITH DARTS THAT PUT THEM TO SLEEP I LOOSELY TIE THEM UP I PEE ON THEM MY DOG PEES ON THEM HE LEARNED THAT FROM ME AND THEN WE SHOVE SOME S*** IN THEIR MOUTH THAT I CARRY OR I PICK UP FROM MY DOG AND THEN WE LET HIM GO ON THEIR OWN THEY GET LOOSE WAKE UP AND THEY GET PRETTY MUCH FREAKED OUT BY THE WHOLE INCIDENT HAVING PISS ON THEM FOR ME AND MY DOG AND SOME S*** IN THE MOUTH THEY NEVER FORGET IT

  3. Those western coyotes are so puny. Im across from Erie Pennsylvania, along the Great lakes in Canada. Our coyote packs eat cows, they are that big here. Coy/wolves.. wait 50 years and the coywolf population will push back against western coyote range. .. western coyotes will not exist in 200 years. They'll all be coywolves.

  4. The belief that coyotes lure dogs back to their packs to be attacked is a myth. Coyotes are not known to engage in this type of intentional, coordinated ambush.

Instead, when encountering a dog, coyotes may exhibit behaviors like yipping or barking as a form of communication or to establish boundaries. If a dog approaches a coyote, the coyote may retreat, potentially towards other pack members for safety, which can be misinterpreted as luring.

Coyotes are primarily opportunistic hunters that prey on smaller animals like rodents and rabbits, and generally avoid confrontations with dogs, especially those that are larger than them.

  5. Seems like if you had anything on you it could be a good choice to follow. They’ll eventually learn not to try that in populated areas if a human is seen.

  6. You people should carry BB guns and pepper the wild animals. That way you don’t kill them. But warn them to stay away. Very dangerous to pets, children walking home elderly etc!
