Lure? The dog is, basically, a wolf, and many times bigger than the coyote. The coyote is feeling threatened and trying to make himself look big and scary (and possibly guarding a den). Everything about his behavior says “back off, chump.” If the dog chases the coyote, damn right it’s gonna run back to safety and its friends are gonna jump in to protect it. Solution? Don’t let your dog chase coyotes (or other wildlife).
