I don’t pretend to know what happens when we die but i do know that 2 days after my best friend died his phone called mine twice. It never rang. It showed up as a missed call both times. When i called his phone it went right to voicemail mail so i called his sister and asked her where his phone is. She said it was still in his bag with the cloths from the hospital. I asked her to go look for it. When she found it she said it was out of power so she plugged it in, turned it on and looked for calls to me. There were none. I believe he was contacting me to let me know he was ok.
