I was 17 years old when this Movie came out… it was all the rage to see it at a local theater, in Fort Worth, Texas… in "Sensurround"! Memories!
Still DN like tt "Big Mo" does with Ava at the end.
Don't forget Planet of the Apes.
Was the Airport series a precursor for Die Hard?
not a fan of the film even the characters.
I remember this movie!😊
I don't know how they did it but the theater that I watched the movie they had the seats rigged so when the earthquake 'hit' the cool surround sound & the SEATS actually moved abit- vabrated – very cool effects!!
(1:02:05–1:03:03)
I asked my CHP son what to do in case of a fire, an earthquake, or a tsunami. He said not to get on a highway and be prepared to take care of yourself. I now live in Oregon.
I've seen this movie before and it demonstrates perfectly how some people react in a disaster such as: the people in the elevator scene at 56:43, the guy with a lit cigarette at 59:58, injured people set-up underground a weakened bldg, etc.. Human error is deadly and continues on. Some people never learn.
I was 9 when I saw this and was so scared because it was shown in Sensurround so the seats started shaking during the quake scenes. I ran out to the lobby and had to be comforted by the concessions lady.😂😂😂
[`Personal Experience`] I was in the Seattle, Ash Wednesday quake in 2001. If you look up footage from that day they will show people panic and run from a full bar. One man sits at the bar undaunted, and unbothered. I like to think Mathau's spirit landed on that guy, and helped take away all the F's that man had. Seriously its worth a look.
[`Luke's Movie Facts`] The film San Andreas with Duane Johnson pays homage to the sequence at roughly 54:00. In this film you see a stretch of highway collapse and several vehicles go toppling over. If you pay attention in San Andreas as The Rock is flying overhead in his Huey, you will see the exact same thing. Not only is it almost motion by motion the same vehicles, it is actually this precise section of freeway in both films.
I was four years old when this movie came out. Earthquake shows a Los Angles of the 1970s that sadly just doesn't exist anymore.
It was wild in theaters with sensurround, impressive to a teenager in the 1970’s, really the main reason anyone went to see it🤣
Lol…omg so ridiculous. When big stars have nothing better to do.
This is just another movie about lying cheating no good piece of manure guy who is lying and cheating on,the woman that he claimed to love.AND wants to be with for the rest of their life his wife should divorce his sorry no good piece of manure rear end and take him for everything that he has.😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
Yes, thank you for uploading Earthquake, free with ads. I love my old 70s disaster films. ❤ I hope you can make Airport '75 free soon, as well. The Poseidon Adventure, also. Have a Happy New Year, YouTube.
I just love Miles Rosa and Sal…. The whole daredevil thing was so huge in our childhood…..
This could happen this year😢 a lot of happening near the southern end of the San Andreas fault
Great movie, when L.A. was populated with mostly Americans of all Ethnicities. It was artistic, hedonistic, exciting, strange, scary, and full of opportunities. Now, its full of illegals and homeless people and boring
Back when men were still men and the feminization of them was nowhere to be seen
I had no idea car phones existed in the 70s!
I was 4 years old

Loved Charlton Heston in Earthquake and especially the original Planet of the Apes!!!
Now I believe that earthquake 🫨 are everywhere as the word of God 📖 said in Matthew 24:7 and if is happening as I'm watching this movie 🎥🎞️😳🙄in 2026
Portions from Earthquake (1974) was featured in Scarface (1983). It's from the same movie studio.
Hey guys this is the verge of occurring get ready
Wow great movie that predicted the future. They got one thing wrong though, the damn has a lot of water behind it, something that isn't present today!
looks like it predicted LA's future except the dams are full.
1974 post-Mega-quake Los Angeles was still more livable than 2026 Los Angeles…
The police car chase scene in this movie was on the television in the cheap Miami motel room in the background during the drug dealing scene in the 1983 movie Scarface just before Tony Montana's friend was cut to pieces by the chainsaw.
I was 10 so I watched it in theater, i remember how intense was in those years. Great movie.
IT'S GOOD TO SEE AN OLDIE BUT A GOODIE FROM 1977. IT STILL MAKES MY HEART RACE WATCHING THIS ONE,,,YOU NEVER KNOW IF THIS JUST MIGHT HAPPEN.
