14. It's a fun thought experiment to debate which animal would win in a fight but obviously one that should never be acted out and was acted out in the past. But putting the lion that far ahead, of the tiger or even ahead at all is ridiculous. They may not be seen on camera fighting as much but when they do it is on a whole other level to lions. Anytime I see footage of Tigers fighting it leaves me stunned that there is even a single person who thinks a lion would beat a tiger in a fight. Lion vs Tiger is always if not the most common pairing debate it's one of them. A lot of these proposed match ups could go either way and each side has merits but not in this one. Lions are just clearly outmatched by their very close relative. They are slightly bigger both in length and bulk. Tigers heads, jaws, paws and claws are all larger. That is a factor but the most important factor and the most distinct advantage for the tiger is it's fighting style and capabilities. While usually supporting themselves with one front limb lions more times than not are swiping with one paw at a time. Tigers on the other hand usually rear up on their hind limbs while swiping with both front paws. Their fights are just so much more intense. It's disgusting this matchup was ever put to the test but sadly it was and the Romans were good record keepers. They show about 95% win rate for Tigers. That isn't just big difference that is substantial.

    A female tiger vs. female lion = Tigress destroys her

    male tiger vs male lion = same results except one difference. Male lions are unique in their manes and that mane is really the only thing that could prolong the fight and not always end in death as it's thickness might make the tigers death grip on the lions neck hard to finish the job. People also need to remember unlike male lions male tigers still have to hunt for themselves if they want food so they are kept in top top fighting shape.

    male lion vs female tiger = This is the first matchup i'm not sure how it would go down but the fact that it's not an obvious and immediate answer for the male shows how great tigers are at fighting.

    male tiger vs female lion = This is the most obvious and definitive answer of all.
