The battle of hogwarts in the film was very underwhelming; a lot of characters were reduced to extras, the battle scenes were too brief, we weren't shown how some characters died, whereas in the book the battle allowed many characters to shine: senior hogwarts students, DA members, teachers, Hogsmeade residents, House elves, centaurs etc. When I walked into the cinema in 2011 I was really expecting an epic battle
