Hurricane Melissa could represent the maximum possible intensity of a hurricane, based on the Potential Intensity formula. Maiya May explains.
Weathered is a show hosted by weather expert Maiya May and produced by Balance Media that helps explain the most common natural disasters, what causes them, how they’re changing, and what we can do to prepare.

What compounds the rise in the theoretical limits is the fact that when the surface air and water temperatures rise the upper troposphere temperatures tend to drop.

252 MPH!!!! WHAT???? JESUS!! WOW!!!!
There is no limit
If people are worried about climate change! Why are we still seeing cem trails all over the US???? Climate change is a myth. Nature will clean the earth 🌎 by force ❤
We also need to learn how Jam Rock was not wiped off the Map with this powerful of a storm with the death toll to be minimal.
Let's hope there's no hurricane Karen anytime soon… That would be socially devastatingly awkward
As someone who survived hurricane Katrina, the fact we might get something stronger one day terrifies me
This girl is so hot
He… What about Typhoon Haiyan then, if this reaches 50 likes you must talk about it
Cat 6 hurricanes will be a reality one day.
The theoretical limit of what's physically possible to happen is not going to rise because the weather changes. If theorists, with their models, demonstrate that the theoretical limit may not, scientifically, be the limit, the theoretical limit will change, and if we have an actual storm, whether the general weather gets colder, warmer, or stays the same, that is greater than the current theoretical limit, if a limit is still theorized to exist, that limit will change.
But changes in weather are not going to make scientists, of all people, change their mind about what is physically possible on earth. And they knew that warmer weather was already physically possible when they made their minds up as to what storms are possible.
So, the concerns surrounding global warming are in fact very valid and very serious. 🤔
My ex-wife was named Melissa. She was a perfectly efficient storm.
Push it to the LIMIT!! 🌀
That’s so well explained, congrats
i almost got hit by this💔
There's nothing new under the sun
Humans are so amazing we even figured out how to make hurricanes stronger and more devastating! I couldn’t be more proud 🙄
A heavy rock of about 30 lbs can be picked up in 60mph winds …4×30 makes 120 lbs..
